My Mice dissection..
Today is a bit hectic 😕...i have to attend national symposium related to animal (Rat/Mouse) in PHYSIOLOGY department. I was bit afraid of rat or mouse. But they are somehow cute albino mice.By the way i don't actually know the exact difference between them neither my any professor still explain that by itself...i think i have to ask them.🤔
Today i learned about mice handling..that is holding it in your hand. It's a bit tricky because we need to expose it's some part like abdomen (belly) for injection. Our professor demonstrated that hold the mice from tail with left hand and using right hand fingers and thumb grap it's neck fur and back (if you are right handed).Now injection can be given in its lower abdomen part.
Second thing we learned today is how to collect blood in a blood vacutainer tube from mice.. hold the mice just like above i mentioned, second assistant is needed to grap mice one paw and by using tissue cutting scissors cut down mice jugular vein, blood starts to come out of them and collect it all in a tube. After that collection we killed it by breaking its spine from neck.😢
It's a barbaric way to kill any living thing but we have to do it just to collect some more amout of blood as heart is still pumping we can get more of blood. Killing my cute white mice is bit upsetting 😡 😢 but we have to do it.
After that the blood vacutainer tube is placed on centrifuge for later use.

After that blood collection we have to do dissection...cut open the mice and retract organs out of it. It was a bit simple and also interesting.🤔 i can't add that dissected mice it my hurt someone but if you want to see do let me know.
Our professor demonstrate first after that we are given the opportunity to dissection one mice. Dissecting its organs includes,
Heart, Brain, Liver which is dark brown in color, Spleen with part of pancrease, Kidney, stomach and colon.
On the right, its heart ❤ which is still blooded. Then that dark brown bean shaped is kidney with that there is spleen with some part of pancrease. And on the very left it is a brain🧠 of mice. It's quite interesting they have brain that looks as similar as human. Every organ dissection is very easy just by using a single scissors and forcep.All the organs are taken from abdomenothoracic region except brian..obviously. But i have to mention it that mice brain is taken out from its upper side passing from between it's ears.
This dark part is liver..quite large and intestines that are coiled and intermingled. Still i don't know the protocols for preservation of all these organs as today's demonstration is about dissection. We'll learn about organ preservation, histopathology and serum analysis soon.These RATS & MICE are breed in laboratory. They are not our pets
