Jamu, A Traditional Indonesian Herbal Drink
In Indonesia there are lots of herbal drinks that can help the body to maintain stamina, increase immunity and can overcome body aches. In Indonesia itself, herbal drinks made from spices are called jamu. Herbal medicine can have a pretty good effect on the body, especially those of you who are very tired at work and don't have time to do a massage. I usually drink herbal medicine when my body is really tired.
"Are the herbs bitter?"
This is a question that is often asked, especially some Indonesian people and children. Some herbs have a taste, very bitter, bitter, slightly bitter, sweet, and very sweet. This bitter herbal medicine is usually made with a mixture of ingredients that have a bitter taste. With this bitter taste, everyone has a statement that herbal medicine is bitter. To reduce this bitter taste, you can use honey as a neutralizer of the bitter taste in the herbal medicine.
In fact, the efficacy of the bitter taste in the herbal medicine is to maintain health in the stomach and digestion. In addition, bitter herbs are also useful for increasing appetite, overcoming body odor, and boosting the immune system. One of the properties of bitter herbs that many people believe is to prevent acne.
"Can the jamu be drunk by all ages?"
For children under 6 months or have been separated from exclusive breastfeeding is allowed. Because jamu does not have side effects like chemical drugs, so it is safe to consume for children and it is also very good for children who are growing or have difficulty eating.
In this era of sophisticated technology, if we want to drink jamu without having to refine the ingredients, now there are herbs that are just brewed like the picture above and the picture below is powdered instant herbal medicine that only needs to be brewed with hot water.
But, if you don't like this instant jamu, you can visit the herbal medicine depot or depot jamu like the picture below. There you can drink herbs according to the disease or symptoms you experience in your respective bodies by asking the seller.
However, the price of jamu sold at the herbal medicine depot is quite expensive compared to traditional herbal medicine sellers who are rarely found, especially in my place. Traditional herbal medicine sellers I mean those who sell herbs while walking or by bicycle.
Yup, although there are some, but they run out very quickly. The herbs that are commonly sold include tamarind turmeric or kunyit asem, beras kencur, bitter herbs or jamu pahitan, temulawak herbs etc. But it's not as complete as the herbs that are sold at the herbal medicine depot that I mentioned above.
So, is there any herbal drink at your place as I described above? Do you like it or maybe you don't like it? In essence, these herbs or herbal drinks are better and more useful than chemical drugs from doctors which have side effects that are not good for the body.

We don't have that here in our place but since that's herb, I know it's absolutely effective despite it's bitterness.
