In Indonesia, there is a fruit that looks like a jackfruit, but is smaller in size. You could even say this fruit is very rarely sold because this fruit can be harvested only once a year. What fruit do I mean? The name of this fruit is cempedak.

this is cempedak fruit

Like I said, this fruit has a smaller size than the jackfruit you see. Even though the fruit is not as big as a jackfruit, the jackfruit will grow elongated. This cempedak fruit is a favorite of all Indonesians because this fruit has a very fragrant scent. When you are on the road and someone is selling cempedak on the side of the road, the fragrance immediately spreads throughout the highway. Many people (including me) will inhale the aroma of cempedak which makes the nose feel delicious.

"Does this fruit taste sweet apart from its sweet scent?"

Of course this fruit has a sweet taste or even tastes very sweet. Even the older the fruit, the taste will taste sweeter and more fragrant. The sensation of eating this cempedak fruit is similar to that of a durian fruit which both have soft flesh. It's just that the skin is not as thick and hard as durian skin. So you don't need to worry when you want to split the fruit because the texture of the skin is like a jackfruit.

"Is this fruit expensive?"

Yes, of course. Because this fruit is a seasonal fruit that can only be sold once a year, the price is definitely expensive. For the price of cempedak fruit that is still intact, it is sold at $ 0.96 or the equivalent of 15,000 rupiah for 1 kg, which is the cheapest. But there are other reasons this fruit is sold expensive, guys. This fruit is sold expensive because almost all parts of the fruit such as seeds and skin can be eaten.

In Samarinda (my city), there is one dish made from cempedak skin, namely Sayur Mandai. I don't know what the name is in English but the dish is usually cooked with coconut milk and some other spices. It can also be cooked by stir-frying. The seeds are usually boiled and eaten immediately and cooked with coconut milk. For the fruit flesh, there are many preparations such as fried in flour, made into porridge, cake mixes and others.

And also because this fruit has a very fragrant aroma, many people make it as a perfume and also as a liquid for e-cigarettes. This cempedak fruit flavor is very popular and is the most sought after by many people compared to other fruit flavors. Not infrequently people also like the aroma of the fragrance and even the fruit. Because they think cempedak fruit has the same aroma as durian.

So, that's cempedak fruit. Seasonal fruit that has a high selling price. Although this fruit is very good eaten directly or processed into other foods, consuming too much of it is also not good for the stomach. If you want to eat cempedak fruit, it's best if your stomach is full.

Do you have cempedak fruit in your place? Or are you just finding out here? Try saying in the comments.
