Today Philippines has a rapidly increasing of a person committed different crimes, such as killings, stealing, kidnapping and other crimes that is against to the law. It is really alarming knowing the range of age of the people whose committed crimes and those are particularly the minors, those, underage, and the children who has done act immoral according to the law and should give a punishment. But there should be an existing question why there are crimes and why there are so many people in our society who chose to commit crimes and choose to do the wrong thing rather to do it in a good and by the legal process. Pertaining to children who’s done immoral and illegal, cause of different reasons, first is lack of guidance and support by their parents who should be their first teacher who will taught and awakened their mind into the reality and also the different values that they should gain, parents should know and do their responsibilities and obligation as a parent, because every child has their right to live freely and that includes their basic rights as a child, right to give birth, play and have their education. These basic rights that a child should enjoying as he or she lives. Second is their environment where they living, children can easily influence by their surroundings the people who they see every day it affects their choice as well as their status in life. So that in order for them to survive they will do anything even though it is against to the law.
Lawmakers should consider first that those children are the victims of how cruel society is, and just a victim of the two persons who’s not thinking what might be the consequences of their actions, those are their parents, they should be the first teacher and the guardian of their children to avoid doing wrong things. Arresting children might lead them to have a miserable life avoiding their rights as a child, and might change their mindset due to the older criminals that can influence them to do such thing as crime, they are also the victim by the criminals whose taking advantage them knowing that they are minor and not liable to the law due to their age. There are a lot of things that a child should learn outside and shouldn’t learn in a prison. Those child needs help not a heavy punishment. It would be an unhealthy environment to a child if he/she was detained together with the criminals that might influence them in doing evil things. A child whose committed crime and will be detained might negatively affect their physical, Mental, Social and Emotional state of being, prisons in the Philippines are not well equipped they do not have enough facilities to accommodate prisoners, many of them got their sickness due to crowdedness and because of lack of equipment that should be use and build to every prison, by that problem if those children will be together by those inmates in the prison and will also experiencing those difficulties they might have illness and will cause their physical health to be in danger. It also affect their mental and emotional health, the environment in prison is not good for a child, their young mind awakened early by those negative things and situation happen every day in jail, those things that a child might adapt and build her/his personality as the time goes by, so being in prison of a child is not really an answer to solve and diminish crimes, and also their social health, by their very young age, they should develop their socialization with the children whose their same age, they should enjoy the environment outside, learn things out of a prison and build their personality. Children should teach well by their elders about the right thing to do and the values should gain.
