Bayanihan sa Bukid is one of the famous works of Carlos “Botong” Francisco. It derives from the word “Bayan” means town, nation or Community. It gives the spirit of being united and cooperative. It portrays the unity by the old tradition of Filipinos which is the people in the neighborhood helps to relocate the house of the family living in that community by carrying the house. This Artwork has a big part in Filipinos life because knowing or seeing this artwork the first thing you would see and feel is the unity, cooperation and kindness that Filipino people have. It shows the happiness that you would feel if you help the people in need. This artwork also shows the good relationship that people have in that town. Like here in the Philippines even if you don’t know each other you will still welcome them, you will still make them feel at home. It also shows that there is no poor or rich, kids or adults, black or white when in terms of helping. You must help others without any conditions. Help with all your heart. Don’t help if you feel heaviness in your heart cause that will only make you hypocrite.
Today Bayanihan still lives in the heart of Filipinos. Helping is still one of the good aspects here in our country. A lot of Filipinos show their bayanihan when the calamities came. Filipinos show their unity and cooperation in evacuating the affected Families of Floods, Typhoons, Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions. They also show their kindness by giving donations and by doing activities that will raise funds for the victims.
Like in this present scenario, the Philippines is now facing a pandemic cause by COVID 19. A lot of people who have a good heart came. There are some who gives food packs for the poor Families in their community. Some shares food for the soldiers who are in duties to protect and guard all the Filipino Families. People who gave a safety precautions equipment to all our front liners. The CEO’s who open their company to the people who needs work during pandemic. All the Doctors who risk their life just to save the life of others. All the Front liners who volunteer. There are also Drivers who gave free rides to the Filipino who works in Medical Field.
Every one of us have our own way to show our kindness, unity, cooperation, care and of course love to one another. The Philippines have been known for being happy even if we are facing difficulties. Being caring even if you don’t know the people you care. Being helpful even if we don’t have enough for ourselves. Being welcoming and make others feel that they are part of the Family even if you don’t live in the same roof.
