Leadership?
What do you mean by leader? What does this have to do with me? Well do you know or have you met someone who you think could be toxic? Is this person in a position of authority or authority as a group project leader? Captain, supervisor or team leader at work before your sports team?
Effective leadership is the key to better results everywhere because it plays a key role in many factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, morale, unity and confidence in dealing with members.
Effective leadership has great positive benefits for everyone involved. Unfortunately the opposite has a similar negative effect. If a leader is not only ineffective, but more toxic than everyone else in the group, as it is for the entire organization.
Toxic management creates a way of life of mistrust, battle tension and fear. If you have never encountered a toxic leader, it would be easy to understand why it is so important that you try to protect yourself and your group from them. Giving yourself a good chance of stopping something is a belief that happens.
Here are 5 common signs of a toxic leader or boss.
THEY DON'T OR WON'T LISTEN
Good communication and good interpersonal skills are part of what makes a good leader. So if your group is led by someone who defies the team's opinion or mocks it, this is the first sign of a problem.
Such leaders often believe they are always right. Immediately dismiss, disagree, and listen to the thoughts of others before considering what is presented.
This type of behavior prevents groups from sharing and collaborating and, as a result, disrupts available options. Nothing is available except the spirit input of the hero, so the numbers can only be made as they say.
This leads to a feeling of helplessness, low motivation and perhaps a feeling of being trapped. As you might imagine, this does not increase group morale or effectiveness.
THEY'RE NEVER WRONG
Criticism is disappointing. A leader who takes into account reluctance to accept feedback, or reacts negatively to feedback from his or her members, is usually limited and confident. The response to this behavioral trait always manifests itself in the form of constant excuses or blaming others.
For example, a leader receives complaints from a group and says something like, “Well, obviously I can't work with these bad devices, or how do you expect me to have life meetings for someone? The other had to capture this or something simple "Well, I just don't understand why it would take you so long to put the project together."
They can lie a lot to change the blame. Likes to hang out with people who never ask them questions.
This behavior further limits the growth potential of the group or organization, as the group often repeats mistakes and makes the wrong choices There is no possibility of learning and bringing about change.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THEM AND ONLY THEM
Studies show that one of the most important factors in failed group leadership and performance is an alcoholic leader.
Nobody cares when a leader is too self-absorbed, but the people around him may also feel that his sole purpose is to lower the ego of their leader.
Narcissistic leaders constantly brag about themselves, show limited concern for others, and view others as nothing more than an aid in reaching their goals. With this type of treatment it is easy to see how to work towards a better motivation or result to achieve a goal.
If you are given a choice, you set up a group where you are simply a petty general blockade and slave to the leader or you will walk away and find a healthy group?
THEY NEED TO CONTROL EVERYTHING
Another type of toxic leader is the micromanager.
Do you know a micro manager?
There, people with neurosis need to be in constant control. Leaders with this property will be immediately involved, even if it is not needed or desired. They also take on jobs and projects from others because they don't believe they can do anything.
Do you want to do everything yourself, just with their decision?
This can upset, perhaps offend or betray others, as leaders do not believe in the people around them. What if all the activities you want to do are constantly overwritten and robbed of you? Feeling useless or unreliable is a sadly effective way to divide a group.
THEY ABUSE THEIR POWER
Previous factors have shown various signs that arise when the wrong person is charged or in office. The worst thing, however, is when the lightning hits their head.
Such leaders often scare their bottom people and try to assert their dominance over others. They may feel that they are copying a totalitarian ruler.
They feel threatened and poorly responded when every question or challenge is insulting to a small comment because they insist on their members accepting and they certainly have. See members do not consider themselves equal.
Toxic leadership can be a serious cause for concern for any group, as it often spreads into its ranks as poison, resentment and resentment. Leaders are responsible not only for themselves but also for the people around them, so it is imperative that they are held high.
Toxic leadership in any form should not be tolerated because it will give you and your group more stress, anxiety and emotional exhaustion. This can lead to more serious mental health consequences for themselves in the long run or continuously, and can have an overall negative impact on the group or organization.
Have you seen these trait and anyone else recently or in the past?
Do these points help you identify or explain behaviors that you have observed in others or even in yourself?
