“Reply 1988” As A Message to My Youth
Going back to the days where you have started feels like wanting to be a child again to forget all the pain that the world has been throwing you these present days. Indeed, we must always go forward in life but sometimes, we just want to be a kid resting in our mother's arms again.
If I would be asked about my favorite series, I will say that it is the Korean drama "Reply 1988" in no time. This series is giving me so much nostalgia feels up to this day. I will choose it again and again for so many reasons that no other Kdrama could give to me.
"Reply 1988" is all about relatable circumstances happening inside a family and neighborhood. But what's making this different from the others is, theirs is an ideal friendship that you would definitely love. It tackles family issues, adult's relevant but unheard feelings, decision making, youth's struggles in making relationships with parents, love and so much more.
What made it interesting in me is the plot and characters themselves who naturally portrayed their characters and made the series fun to watch. Moreover, I love the music that blends and adds emotion to it.
I learned a lot while watching this amazing story. Some of the realizations that I had is that,
Number 1: Being open even to the closest people only is very important to lessen the burden inside your heart.
Number 2: Being fair and understanding also matters. Number 3: Every decision that we are making for ourselves could make an impact on everyone else.
Number 4: Real friends stick to you through ups and downs even though you are not together from time to time.
Number 5: Family is not just about the same blood running in your veins.
Number 6: Being a cold person doesn't make you bad because what's inside your heart is what purely matters.
Number 7: We should always think of other's feelings.
Number 8: Money could give you happiness but it isn't always everything.
Number 9: You may not know what you want by now but eventually, you will find your purpose. Just keep believing in yourself.
Lastly, as Jung Hwan said, timing is important. The other term for fate is timing. Don't lose the chances, make a move to make things happen if you want it.
This series made me cry a river after realizing that you will experience the life and fun of being young only once. There is no going back so people should spend it wise and worthwhile enough to keep beautiful memories as they grow old.
