Why we do extra-curricular activities?

3 18

One of the things that can be noticed among today's children is that although they participate in studies a lot, their participation in sports or other extra curricular activities is negligible compared to that. It is not always that they are doing it voluntarily. That is why they are pressured to become guardians or educational institutions. If the results are good, the children are engrossed in studies all day long in the greed of getting scholarship.

I'm not saying don't study. Of course it should be studied. But just studying cannot be the only job in life. Along with this, one has to participate in various other activities. But by coping with so much study pressure, it doesn't seem to be possible to do anything else outside of studies. As a result, at the end of the day, children are acquiring only biblical knowledge. Adverse activities can be targeted at these boys and girls who lack the ancillary skills needed to succeed in life. Again, our education system has had such an effect on the society that all other achievements are always lost to the achievement of education. Now parents are not very happy when their children win first place in debate competitions or science fairs. But when that same boy and girl won first place in their studies, the whole family and society applauded.

But that was not to be. Both achievements are equally commendable. There was supposed to be a harmony between them. But that consistency seems to be lost somewhere. The family, the society, the education system and we are responsible for this.

Children are no longer seen playing outside the house. All day long they are seen immersed in the pages of books or lost in the world of internet. Don't have a proverb? "Biblical knowledge and wealth in the other hand, no knowledge, no wealth is needed." Therefore, we need to participate in extra-curricular activities so that knowledge is not limited to the pages of a book but is also useful in our lives. Let's take a look at why extracurricular activities are so important in our lives.

1) Heavy CV:

We may or may not know that reputed universities in our neighboring country India and other countries give preference to students whose resume is filled with other extra-curricular activities including academic studies.

The same is true when it comes to getting a job. Just because you are good at studying does not mean that you will get a good job. Many times the children in the back row of the class get better jobs than the children in the first row. The main reason for this is that middle class or back row students participate more in extra curricular activities. As a result, the skills other than studies are much better than those of good students in academic studies only.

Therefore, those who are interested in going abroad for higher education or working in the corporate sector, they should focus on extra curricular activities in addition to studies.

2) Increases efficiency:

Those who regularly participate in sports and other activities from an early age are usually more physically active than other normal boys and girls. Physical activity increases metabolism and blood flow. This leads to more stamina and mental alertness. Increased strength eliminates fatigue. As a result, people who engage in such activities in normal life and at work do much better than others. It is not a problem for them to work continuously for a long time. They are a few steps ahead of others in all respects because of their ability to work hard. As a result, success is achieved very quickly.

3) Teaches to work in groups:

Learning to work in different groups in Extra Curricular Activities from an early age creates a valuable quality of teamwork among boys and girls. Usually children who are only absorbed in their studies from an early age are not accustomed to doing any work in groups. As a result, when they enter the career, they get lost in teamwork.

There are some things that can be learned in group work that cannot be learned from the pages of a book. These are the ability to settle disputes, the ability to influence people, the ability to lead, and so on. These qualities are acquired only through experience. And extracurricular activities allow this experience from a young age. When Extra Curricular Activities are exposed to boys and girls from an early age, they gradually become capable and strong. Apparently, it is not necessary to understand the need for it, but in the next stage, its effect becomes very noticeable.

4) Increases creativity:

Interest, exceptional thinking and creativity can be born in people. But that is not to say that these cannot be built. These qualities develop in anyone who can provide the right environment. But these qualities cannot be developed overnight. This requires proper care and proper follow-up. Extracurricular activities help to ensure these.

Painting, singing or writing all help to increase creativity. When children and adolescents participate in such activities, a new door is opened for them. This door shows the way to their creativity. As a result, their way of thinking changes. A trend of innovation and exception can be noticed in their activities. There are no hard and fast rules of creativity. It can be found in drawing, singing, debating, writing and other activities. Therefore, those who are more interested in the activities should focus on that.

5) Ensures a good social life:

You will notice that those who read books all day long, that is, only books, do not have many friends. This is because they do not go out very much and do not mix with people. When you go out, get acquainted with the real world, meet new people, you will have new friends. When you meet new people and you see that your preferences match with them, your bond with them will be stronger. Group activities make these methods easier.

When you work with groups, be it sports or anything else, you maintain regular contact with them. This will create a strong bond between you. These bonds will make your social life beautiful.

6) Helps reduce stress:

But it's not just employees who are under stress. Nowadays, it is noticed that school-college children are also going through stress. This is because one competitive exam after another, weekly or monthly exam etc. The students bowed under the pressure of so many things. Extra curricular activities provide some excellent opportunities to reduce stress. These activities provide much needed breaks and recreation. These cool the brain and remove all worries. As a result, the focus is on work.

7) Ensures good time management:

When you are already accustomed to doing multiple tasks together, it will be more beautiful than any other task to manage your time and divide the task based on importance. You will face many situations in your working life where you may have to do many things at once. In that case your previous experience will greatly simplify your work.

When you learn to share tasks on an important basis, you will see that if you have to do a lot of work in a limited time, you will be able to complete the important tasks correctly. By participating in various Extra Curricular Activities, you will learn to perform different types of tasks as well as to deal with new challenges.

8) Increases confidence:

If you do not have enough self-confidence, you can sometimes suffer from inferiority complex. Children and adolescents who have not tried anything new in life other than the usual activities also face this problem. It is said that the "empty brain is the devil's factory." So if you are involved in various activities, you will not have time to think negative thoughts.

When you do more than one thing, you will feel valued and your self-confidence will increase. By doing this you will become wise and experienced. As a result, you will be stronger than before and will be able to overcome all kinds of obstacles.

9) Above all, it improves:

People who can do more than one thing are worth more than those who have experienced one thing. By participating in Extra Curricular Activities, children and adolescents acquire various skills. This improves them above all. As a result, they get priority over others when entering the career.

10) Ensures talent development:

There is a special talent hidden in everyone. If left unmanaged, they can be left astray and lose the right path. Engaging children and adolescents in various extra curricular activities gives them the opportunity to develop their talents. They can easily identify their strengths, weaknesses and interests.

They get a chance to unveil a new look of their own that they were not aware of before. This opens up new career opportunities for them. The turning point in their lives comes when they realize how much they are actually capable of achieving. One of the success stories is created.

Hopefully the reasons mentioned are enough to explain the importance of Extra Curricular Activities. Therefore, just as one should participate in these activities, one should also encourage others in this regard. This will create a skilled population who will take the country forward on the path of development.
