Aldrin's Moonsuit Sold at Auction!

American astronaut Buzz Aldrin was the second man to walk on the moon. The jacket he wore to the moon has been sold at auction. But not the price, exactly 28 million US dollars!

53 years ago today, on July 20, 1969, humans first set foot on the moon. Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin traveled to the moon on NASA's Apollo 11 spacecraft. Meanwhile, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon. Just 19 minutes later, Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon.

Aldrin is the only survivor of the three American astronauts on the Moon. Aldrin, now 92, has sold some of his personal belongings. This includes the special jacket he wore when he went to the moon. The moon dress with the American flag on the left shoulder and the NASA logo on the right pocket.

Famous New York auction house Sotheby's auctions Aldrin's moon suit. Aldrin's jacket sold for $2.8 million among the historic US astronaut artifacts.

The auction of Aldrin's belongings was televised live, Sathby said. A person participates in this over the phone and buys the moon dress. However, the auction house authorities did not disclose his name.

Aldrin said he felt comfortable wearing the jacket in the different atmosphere of the moon.

The jacket is made of special flame retardant material 'Beta Cloth', called Synthetic Teflon. 69 items used by Aldrin, including the jacket, were sold at auction for a total of 82 million dollars.
