In this article I present to you my entry into the "clown world meme contest". If you haven't heard about this meme contest - and you would still like to join, check out this post by @Mr.Trenzs on noise.cash.
As you may or may not know, I love memes. I love the creativity that is required to create a good meme. And often times a good sense of humour and quite a bit of background knowledge is required to understand - and especially to create - a good meme. It's a bit like the cartoon series "The Simpson's" or "South Park" - on first glance it may appear primitive and made for children, but the closer you look the more depth you will find.
For that reason I believe that I need to do some explaining before I show you my meme. Trust me, you will appreciate the meme a lot more if you are familiar with the meme format and if you know the definition of the term "clown world".
What does "clown world" mean?
The term "clown world" means that nothing in this world makes sense anymore - and everything seems to be backwards from how it should be. The idea is that our world is pretty much run by clowns - instead of knowledgeable, capable people. And they try to explain many things in ways that sound reasonable on first glance, but fall apart the closer you look. These so-called narratives are therefore pretty much the opposite of memes.
If you want an example of the "clown world" we are living in, do your own research on how the "okay hand sign"👌was turned into a "hatespeech" symbol, that is supposed to symbolise "WP" or "white power". This started as a joke by some trolls on 4chan - and nowadays people honestly believe that this symbol👌 stands for racism. People even have been suspended or fired from their jobs for using this symbol in public or while posing on pictures. 🙈
Another example for the "clown world" we are living in is - ironically - is this dog turd of an article about the term "Clown World".
And many more examples of the "Clown World" can be found in the song by Tom MacDonald - which is appropriately called "Clown World".
Whether you agree with the idea that we are living in a clown world - or whether you think that we don't, keep that notion in your mind and let me explain the next concept - the meme format of a man being turned into a clown.
What is this meme format of a man being turned into a clown about?
The meme is based on a tutorial video that explains how to apply clown make up. The 4 or 5 pictures that the meme usually consists of are screenshots of that tutorial video and they usually go along with captions that start out sounding quite reasonable and become increasingly outrageously ridiculous. Just like the outer appearance of the man changes from a regular human being into a clown, the captions derail from a quite reasonable statement in the beginning to an absolutely ridiculous statement in the end.
If you want to learn more about this specific meme format, I can recommend reading this article.
Why did I choose this meme format?
I chose the "applying clown make up" meme format to illustrate how ridiculous it is that a functional crypto currency - which can be used for real world applications - is currently valued by "the market" at 1% of the market capitalization of the "digital pet rock" that is BTC.
This evaluation just doesn't make any sense, because
BTC and BCH started out as the same crypto currency. They were literally the same from when crypto currencies were first invented in 2009 - until they split in 2017.
BCH stayed true to the original principles of the Bitcoin white paper, but had to change its name - while BTC threw the focus on being a peer-to-peer electronic cash system out of the window for "digital gold" first and "store of value" later. BCH is arguably the continuation of the original Bitcoin, but didn't get to keep the name - while BTC is the perversion of the original idea under the continued branding.
BCH has the superior technology for real world applications. It offers fast and cheap transaction fees and irreversible 0-confirmation transactions - and therefore clearly has the better usability. And no, the Lightning Network will not turn the tables... It is just a reinvention of the centralized middle men economy that is the banking system.
The larger blocksize limit of BCH is often given as a reason to doubt the decentralisation of the Bitcoin Cash network, but it is not a problem for current computer systems, nor is it for current connectivity speeds. And it is not likely to be a problem in the future - as the rate of hardware improvements will likely keep up with the demand on the BCH network. We have today's technology to solve today's problems - and for the problems of tomorrow, we will have tomorrow's technology.
Not only is the Bitcoin Cash network of nodes and miners decentralized, Bitcoin Cash also has decentralized, independent development teams - which BTC pretty much doesn't. Almost 100% of the software that the BTC network runs on is developed by one development team that works for the Blockstream company.
With SmartBCH Bitcoin Cash is not only the better Bitcoin, but it is already on its way to becoming the better Ethereum, too.
So why exactly is BCH valued so much lower than BTC? It doesn't make any sense and can pretty much only be explained by people's herd instinct.
That is the full explanation of my meme. And here it is finally. I proudly present to you: My BCH-themed clown world meme.
As you can see, my meme deals with the herd mentality of "everybody is buying BTC, that's why I need to buy it, too". And there are surely additional reasons why the BTC price is so much higher than the BCH price - which likely have to do with USDT Tether. For that topic, I recommend watching this video which explains everything in detail - so I don't have to (get sued).
Do you like my meme? And would you have understood the meme's meaning if I didn't explain it in the article? Let me know in the comments!
To end, I would like to show you two memes of how I believe the future of crypto will look like. 😊
The price is not only the indicator if a coin is worth buyin or not. I would still choose BCH over BTC, which for me, the latter is useless to a person like me.
