Nigeria's blasphemy laws have been of focus locally, nationally and internationally following the arrest and detention of Nigerian humanist, Mubarak Bala, the sentencing to death of a Muslim singer, and the imprisonment of a 13-year-old boy for blasphemy in Kano State in Northern Nigeria.It would appear that Muslim theocrats - within the police and the courts - have gone to great lengths to subvert constitutional provisions and international human rights norms in their quest to enforce shariah Law! Ethno-Religious sentiments ranks as one of the worse plaques of the Nigerian State!
The humanist Mubarak Bala was arrested in April this year on charges of blasphemy on the person of the holy prophet of Islam by a Facebook post and comments he made. He has since been rendered incommunicado! There is no independent report of his whereabouts or if he is still alive!
This scenario occurs in most Muslim dominated countries sometimes resulting in violent mobs and lots of Death! Nigeria is a secular State in Name alone. Shariah Law is practiced in 12 states of the North where the predominantly Muslim Hausa/Fulani populations are the majority! Christians in the north are minority! The predominantly Christian south still has minority communities of Muslims! This is a deadly mix!
The singer who was sentenced to death was a Muslim and was tried in the Sharia courts where he was sentenced to death for blasphemy! These silent consent that Nigerian Democrats has given to these issues could pose grave danger to religious to take tolerance and promote extremism in Nigeria! Undermine human rights and trample on our basic rights to expressing freedom of speech and religion!

A very prominent Nigerian clergy made these remarks which calls to mind my previous article on conspiracy theories and Covid-19! He said it's wrong for Africans to call them selves black!
These are his words
“Maybe I should tell you something, those of you that say black lives matter, I feel sorry for you! Do you really believe you have a black life? Do you want me to read to you the meaning of black?
“Who called you black? Shouldn’t you have rejected that from the beginning? A contradiction, a bundle of contradiction. You refused negro and nigga… But that’s what black is. You took the English version.
“Negro means black. Do you know what black means… Have you ever seen black? Black means the absence of colour, absence of good, absence of light and absence of direction. These are the meaning of black. Black is not a colour but the absence of colour.. like you are sick, don’t you understand it?
“It’s about time Africans say to themselves we are not black. STOP ALL THIS BLACK LIVES MATTER! Let no one call you black because you are not black… The definition of black is not good and they are using it to destroy you…
“When you keep calling yourself black… You mean light is absent, colour is absent and you will never come to a place of light… You will be under… When God gives you a Prophetic instruction, it is important that you follow into the latter.”
Let me remind you here that this very pastor was amoung those who made speeches and videos regarding one world and Covid-19 conspiracy theories! Controversial in nature he is always on the burner of religious critics and skeptics who considers his theater as a show of benightededness!
You may be force to agree with him that black means the absence of colour! The absence of light! If another word for black is 'dark' then I might be forced to agree with him! For in the begining the world was without form and void and covered with darkness! It is such fallacy and philosophical manipulations of doctrines and scriptures that has given rise to varying opinionated preachers and prophets!
Please read to us what it means to be black! Physically as a skin color racial profile or as a figurative description! Someone who is black in color can be said to have a dark skin! It's a totally different thing when someone says that man has a dark soul! His high time they stop decieving the gullible!
