Stress is the natural response of the body to risk. This helps you prepare for challenges and respond quickly to emergencies. For example, when being chased by a dog, it makes you run and think faster. Stress is good for survival, but when it lasts longer than required, it can take a toll on health, jobs, and relationships.

The human body releases hormones into the bloodstream while undergoing a stressful condition, which creates more blood sugar, increases respiratory rate, and raises blood pressure. This speeds up your response time, increases your concentration, and gives you more energy and strength required to cope with stress.

Stress exposure can enhance your tolerance to it. However to encourage your hormone levels to return to normal and your body to recuperate, you should only have mild episodes of stress.

Too much or long-term stress can cause serious mental and physical health issues that can affect your job and relationships later on.

Short-term stress such as being late to work, being caught in traffic jams, or missing your flight is less detrimental as after a few minutes or hours the stress levels subside. Family disputes, financial pressures, and work-related issues have a greater influence on emotions especially as they can last for months or years, leading to more problems.

Sleep disturbances, weight gain, headaches, memory loss, concentration disorder, and fatigue may be caused by long-term stress. Any of these can lead to severe health concerns, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, depression, and Alzheimer's. Too much stress can affect your job performance, which can put your future at risk. To be successful in your work, your boss needs your attention and focus.

Stress can also make you feel irritable, moody, and restless when you change your behavior. These can profoundly impact your relationship with your loved ones. In maintaining good relationships, how you handle individuals is critical. Sadly, mismanagement of stress will make you a toxic person that is difficult to cope with. To lower your stress levels and for them to understand your condition, it is necessary to share your issues with your family and friends.

Overwhelming challenges in life are inevitable, but in maintaining a safe and happy life, learning how to cope with them effectively is important. Control of stress involves:

This serves as a good diversion and triggers the release of endorphins in your body that helps improve mood. Performing routine exercises.

Having enough sleep allows your body to recover from exhaustion, which improves focus, controls moods, and sharpens your judgment, especially when making decisions.
