It is a construction that was inaugurated in 1954. One of the works framed within the series of radical changes made in the capital during the government of Marcos Perez Jimenez, although at first it houses important offices of the main companies of the country today is where some ministries and state offices such as the CNE (National Electoral Council) are located.

HISTORY

To put into context the meaning and importance of the towers of the simon bolivar center an introduction is necessary:

The rise in oil prices as a result of the world war and the legislation that had been made in oil matters thanks to Medina Angarita (former president of Venezuela), forced transnationals to increase their profits to the Venezuelan state, as well as a greater participation of Venezuelans and the state itself in these activities , this of course, meant a total change in the economic scheme in twentieth-century Venezuela.

The money begins to flow in large quantities to the state coffers, so different projects were undertaken to improve the country's infrastructure.

The transformation of the capital began with the so-called Rotival plan in which a group of architects (national and international) participated, among them Raul Villa Nueva, this was during the government of General Isaias Medina Angarita, in which the expansion of the roads and the reorganization of its buildings are planned.

CONSTRUCTION

The towers of the Simón Bolívar center are two twin towers built in the urbanization of "El silencio", for this reason, they are also known as the towers of silence of Caracas is one of the works of the architect Cipriano Dominguez in collaboration with Tony Manrique de Lara and José Joaquín Álvarez. At the end of the work this work its height would reach 103 meters high, an eminence for the time.

Its remodeling would be more aggressive during the governments of the military junta and then by that of Marcos Perez Jimenez promoted by the dogma of the "New national ideal" was in the year of 1954 the inauguration of the towers of silence of Caracas, where they stood as the tallest towers of Caracas and all of Venezuela and the icing on the cake of a world-class capital.

PRESENT

There are many calls for attention that have been made to governments for the preservation of these spaces, although, if some efforts have been made, these are not enough to bring this work to its original beauty or at least to minimum standards.

In front of the buildings is located the Plaza Diego Ibarra, on its main facade serves as the headquarters of the national electoral council (CNE), also in its enclosure is other state institutions such as the office of the administrative service, identification, migration (SAIME).
