It usually starts from the age of 12-13 years in Western countries, and the severity of bleeding may vary from one cycle to another, and the bleeding usually lasts from four to eight days, and this cycle causes many symptoms that usually begin before the bleeding occurs. Mood swings, fatigue, bloating, the appearance of pimples, irritability, and may cause chest pain, and it is worth noting that irregular menstruation is considered abnormal.

Things that bring the cycle down

Some women may want to stimulate the start of their period because of their delay, irregularity, and other reasons. This is due to their increased tension, and some several methods and materials may help stimulate its descent, but it must be noted that these substances usually also stimulate an abortion, meaning that if there is any chance of pregnancy, it is advised not to use these materials and methods, and the following are the most important ways to stimulate Menstruation:

  • Taking vitamin C :

Where there is a common belief that taking vitamin C may stimulate the menstrual cycle, but these are just beliefs, and there is no scientific evidence to prove this, and it is believed that this vitamin may increase estrogen levels in women, as well as reduce levels of the hormone progesterone, which leads to the contraction of the uterus, the dissolution of its lining, and thus the start of menstruation, and therefore it is possible to take supplements of this vitamin or eat foods rich in it; Such as citrus fruits, spinach, red and green peppers, and other sources.

By soaking its slices in water for seven minutes, then drinking it. On the other hand, one of the studies indicated that ginger is an effective remedy for relieving the symptoms of dysmenorrhea, and has similar efficacy to painkillers (in English: Analgesic), in addition to this powder. The plant can be a treatment agent for this condition instead of using NSAIDs, or they can be used together.

  • Drinking cinnamon tea:

Cinnamon is a spice that stimulates the contractility of the uterus, and therefore it is a good option to stimulate the start of the menstrual cycle or to increase its intensity, and it can be taken to advance the session by one to two days, and it is worth noting that preparing a cinnamon drink is by adding cinnamon sticks to Water, boil it for five minutes, leave it to cool down, then eat it, in addition to that, this type of spice helps relieve cramps associated with the menstrual cycle, relieve headache, vomiting, nausea, malaise, and tension, and eating it regularly can contribute to the treatment of insufficiency Regular menstruation; This is because it reduces the levels of the hormone progesterone, and increases the levels of endorphin, which enhances the blood circulation.

Many reasons lead to the delay in the menstrual cycle, and the most important of these are the following:

I got PCOS and dysmenorrhea. I do the hot shower and the hot water bottle on my belly when it's really sore. As much as possible I don't want to take a pain reliever. This is a great article and is helpful. Thank you for sharing.
