Lying in Islam
Islam forbids lying, it is mentioned in the Qur’an: “God does not guide someone who is an extravagant liar” [Surah Ghafir: 28] and God’s saying in Surah Al-Hajj: 30 (Avoid false utterances).
Lying was the most hated of morals to the Messenger of Islam Muhammad, according to Aisha Bint Abi Bakr (No creation was more hateful to the Prophet Muhammad than lying, and the man used to tell a lie to the Prophet and he remained in himself until he knew that he had brought about repentance from her).
Lying is one of the characteristics of the hypocrite, as the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, says (Four of those who were in it were a pure hypocrite, and whoever had a trait of them had a defect of hypocrisy until he left it: if a lie occurred, if a pledge was treachery, and if a promise broke, and if he disputed Fajr) [2], also Malik narrated in his Muwattah from the hadith of Safwan bin Sulayem: It was said to the Messenger Muhammad: Is the believer a coward?
He said: Yes. He was told: Would he be miserly? He said: Yes. It was said to him: Could a believer be a liar? He said: I am not the greatest kind of lying. The greatest type of lies in Islam is lying to God and his Messenger, and lying to God is based on the analysis of forbidden and forbidden permissibility, so the Qur’an says: (On the Day of Resurrection you will see those who have lied to God with their faces dirty. And whoever deliberately lied to me, let him take his seat from the fire.)
