My first failed job opportunity

So, this is actually my first post in this site. I just stumbled upon it after searching for information of freelance jobs across the net.

As a quick background, I am a young mom of four. I had my first child when I was 19 and was not able to finish my degree back then. As someone who grew up as an independent woman, I've always wanted to work after my baby was already big enough to be taken care of by the grannies.

Since I was inexperienced, non-degree holder and a little timid, job hunting was pretty depressing. I tried applying as secretary, sales staff to waitress to no avail. It was because even menial jobs in the Philippines requires job experience or degree.

One day, I stumbled upon a job posting on Facebook about a job opportunity where you don't have to be experienced or graduate. It also states there that the salary ranges from 500-1000 a day so I sent my resume to apply. I know it does sound to be too good to be true but back then (year 2013) I was still naive and attended the said event by the company.

When I reached the place, I was surprised to see a lot of job hunters like me. I was even thinking of backing out because I was thinking that this would definitely turn out to be a failure as well.

After thinking it through, I still stayed and listened to the speaker. But to my dismay, the job opportunity I was expecting turns out to be a networking gimmick of Frontrow.

It was a waste of time (which is a day I could've spent with my son). So anyway, this had been a lesson for me for the following job applications I did before.

It's just sad that these companies promises job opportunities (which sounded like a sureball-hire while inquiry phase) but would turn out to be a networking gig. Some of the people I met at that time even came from far provinces thinking they would have a job in the city.

Anyway, I just thought I would use this as a first post here and I'm wondering if there are also other people here who've experienced the same?
