Things to observe when reading sollah

The things to check out when praying solaah..

Alhamdulillah, solaah is important in the life of a Muslim and the first thing a Muslim is asked on the day of qiyaamah.

As it was narrated in the hadith of Abu hurayrah r.a,

The first thing a servant will be questioned on the day of judgement is solaah. Tirmidhee.

First thing to check is our appearance and clothing.

Allah says,

Al-A'raf 7:31

O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.

Our appearance infront of Allah is an act of worship.

The messenger of Allah s.a.w commanded women to dress in jalbab and with their khimar(a clothing that will cover the head to the bossom).

For men anything the covers the awrah from the chest, the shoulders and the izar should not be below the knees or above the ankle.

2. A person should check his recitation of fatiha well and never forget when joining the jama'ah to make the takbirat ul ihram(/saying Allahu Akbar).

The messenger of Allah s.a.w used to open his prayer with takbirat ul ihram and said,

There is no prayer for anyone who does not recite the mother of the book(fatiha). Saheeh Muslim

3. One should check his ruku' and sujud and perform as rasulullah s.a.w did.

An hadith of malik bin uwairis r.a saying,

I heard the messenger of Allah s.a.w saying,

Pray as you have seen me praying. Tirmidhee.

The ruku of rasulullah s.a.w is that he will bend his back that when a cup is placed on it will not fall and his hands on his knees widely grapped.

Saying the dua subhana rabbiyal atheem thrice.

One can recite. Subhanaka allahumma wabihamdika, allahumma rabbana ighfir Lee.

The gaze of a person should be facing the place of sujud.

In sujud, the seven parts should touch the ground,

The two knees, the nose, the forehead, the two palms and the two toes.

That is correct sujud.

The dua is subhana rabbiyal three times or one can recite,

Quddusu rubbuhu wal malaa'ikatu warruuh.

In solaah, one should try and have khushu'o as the more khushu'o one has the more he enjoins his prayer.

Allah says in Qur'an surah 23;2,

Those who are subsmissive in their prayers.

Attaining khushu'o is difficult as Satan always comes between a person and his solaah as reported in the hadith of Abu hurayrah r.a.

May Allah guides us and grants us understanding of the deen. Aamen
