Muslims in Bangladesh, like Muslims in all parts of the world, have been vocal in their protest against the insult to the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his followers by showing caricatures in France.
Over the past few days, protests have been staged in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, demanding an end to the caricature in France and a public apology for the French president's withdrawal of his anti-Islamic remarks.
Even today, devout and prophetic Muslims have protested under different banners in different districts including Rajshahi, Netrokona, Habiganj and Faridpur.
Meanwhile, Muslims have been urged to boycott French products by setting fire to the French national flag and a picture of the French president.
The Khilafah Youth Movement has staged demonstrations and processions in Netrokona to protest the display of caricatures of the Prophet in France.
The group staged a protest in front of the Jama Bazar Mosque in Netrokona on Wednesday (October 26th) at 10:30 am.
Later, a protest march came out from there and turned into a small market at the corner of the arena.
Earlier in the day, the Islamic Movement-Bangladesh, one of the largest Islamic organizations in Bangladesh, went to besiege the French embassy in the capital.
At the time, the Amir of the party, Pir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim of Charmonai, raised the question, why the government of Bangladesh, the country of 92% Muslims, is still silent even though Muslim heads of state around the world have taken various measures after mocking the President of France.
Meanwhile, prominent scholars and thinkers of the country have called for peaceful protests and boycott of French products in protest of the display of caricatures of the beloved Prophet (PBUH).
In protest of this heinous incident, the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh has announced to hold demonstrations in districts and cities across the country on Thursday (October 29).
Besides, Muslims of all walks of life, including students and teachers of various Islamic organizations and madrasas, will hold massive protests in different districts of the country, including the capital, on Friday.
