Have you seen Sad posts in Facebook and they tagging food shops, resorts, spa, person or local shops? And those shops will give a message to such person, telling them to be "sad no more" because they will give something for free. Here's a sample from my workmate. He shared a post tagging Chase Tea Mati-Main and telling him that he is sad, and then, the food shop, give this message.
This become trending in our City, almost all of the shops, resorts, hotels were tagged. Almost all of the posts that passed my timeline are, "Sad Posts". Here's another one from my student who also availed freebies from a known food house in Mati.
The city people in social media "roar in excitement" for the sad posts. Those granted with request will then post their happiness and some would share it and tag same or other establishments as well.
Why are these shops granting requests or freebies? One is for advertisement purposes, once their shop will be shared because of the grant they made, they will be known to others. They get a wider audience and reach. Second is the pressure, once the shop is tagged, the shop owner might be pressured to give in to the request because the other shops are doing so. They are compelled because of the trend.
My thoughts on this "sad no more" trend
The purpose of tagging a shop is to avail a freebie, whether it be food, services, accommodation or monetary ones. While it helps on the advertisement side, the pressure is on to the shops. Good thing if those shops are earning much, but what about those that the income are just enough or even "short" for that day. Some are just taking advantage of the trend. Though it is fun, makes people hearts happy but we should always bear in mind to support local businesses. So for businesses, it's still up to them if they will give in to the pressure or not. It's still their choice, they are not obliged to do so.
Aside from that, it make others conceive "envy". Others would say "Sana all, sana ako din" to the posts. This may result to hurt feeling if not granted with the request, and even comparison.
But whatever it may be, I just hope that people won't abuse the "sad posts" for availing freebies.
So how about you? Have you seen posts like this? What are your thoughts? I would really love to read your comments in the comment section.
Before I end, let me just say, "I'm Sad". ^.^
