This was our sky yesterday, overcast and rainy. It had been raining all day, so the weather was cold at 24°C, which we enjoyed because it relieved us of the heat we'd been experiencing during this dry 'hot' season or as we colloquially termed as 'summer.' You see, even if it is the 'dry' season, and not yet the rainy or 'wet' season, we still get rain every now and then due to the effect of the LPA or low pressure area. The Philippines is vulnerable to typhoons due to its proximity (slightly above the equator) to the Pacific ocean facing it eastward. And it is in the warm waters of the ocean where these storms are brewing then being carried by the wind as it hurtles towards the archipelago. Actually, the country is hit by about 20 typhoons per year, which occur during both the dry and wet seasons. I read in the news yesterday that there was an LPA somewhere in Mindanao. So this would have brought the scattered rains and thunderstorms across the country, including here in the NCR or National capital region. So, even if it is the dry 'hot' season, it isn't a guarantee that we will not experience rains and typhoons because of our geographical location. Keep in mind that we are also part of the 'Pacific ring of fire,' which is why we are prone to earthquakes. But, of course, this is a different topic... Yay! Back to the 'summer rains'... You see, people were ecstatic about the cold weather yesterday, despite the gloomy dark skies, especially those without air conditioning, like us.
