Good evening fellow Noisemates! How are you all doing? Hope you are all fine especially with our noisemates from the Visayas and Mindanao in the Philippines where the supertyphoon landed. As we read in the news, the Philippines has been hit by a super typhoon with the international name 'Rai', and which was called 'Odette' locally. It had the intensity of a signal number 5 storm and according to NASA or the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, it was one of the strongest typhoons recorded on the planet this year 2021. Rai slammed into the southeastern region of the Philippines on Thursday, bringing substantial rains and flooding that dislodged thousands of families to evacuation centers. On Saturday, Rai left the Philippine Area of Responsibility dislodging hungry families and leaving dead bodies. According to the news a while ago, the death toll passes 99 and could reach more than a hundred as at this point, search and rescue operations are as yet in progress. Volunteers both from the LGU or local government units and the NGO or non-government organizations are on the scene giving out dire assistance to those whose houses were ruined and crops destroyed by the strong winds. It was heartbreaking to see such misfortunes of our fellow countrymen especially since it just happened a week before Christmas and the New year. To those whose families are severely devastated by the storm, my genuine sympathy, and supplications for every one of you. I just read yesterday the post of one of our Noisemate here @Mielboots whose family in Negros Occidental was one of those who were affected and are now in the evacuation center. The roof of their house was blown away by the wind. Their place has been flooded and their crops were all uprooted. You can read her post and hope we can send a little help for her from our hearts and also for the other 'Noisemates' that we have here whose families suffered the same fate. Moreover, we simply trust that those rich government officials who are already in power and those aiming for positions in the next elections would help. Now is the time for them to show off! To do what they are campaigning about alleviating people from poverty and aid calamities. I just hope that they would not put the donations in their pockets. So this is now a call for all of us to cast a ballot wisely in the next election. In any case, we ought not to receive momentary assistance in return for our valuable votes, but choose wisely those who are truly service-oriented officials. God bless us all people!
