The latest smartphone to get tested by the team over at DxOMark is the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra and it managed to put up a combined score of 121. This places it at the tenth position in the overall smartphone photography ranking and a single point behind the Galaxy S20 UltraWhile its camera setup is versatile, there are some evident pitfalls including inconsistent zoom, visible noise in low light scenarios as well as some autofocus hiccups.
The hardware on the Note20 Ultra is pretty familiar with a main 1/1.33-inch, 108 MP-resolution sensor which outputs 12MP shots just like the Galaxy S20 Ultra. It's paired with a 120mm 12MP telephoto unit and a 12MP ultrawide snapper.
The DxOMark team noted excellent wide and ultra-wide performance with vivid reproduction, accurate exposure and fast autofocusing. Portrait shots were also top-notch, nearly matching results from the S20 Ultra. Results from the telephoto lens did not excite as much with an evident loss of detail past the 4x zoom mark. Night time shots were solid with decent exposure, color and detail preservationVideo recording is best at 4K resolution and 30fps though performance is classified as slightly below other flagship offerings like the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
