Religious vs. Relationship

Acts 17:22-28 NLT

27 "His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him - though He is not far from any one of us."

28 "For in Him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, 'we are His offspring."

Paul speak addressed to Men of Athens says, "I notice that you are very religious in every way."

In our Generation, naging katulad tayo ng mga tao sa Athens. Naging religious nalang tayo by doing things that we want over God's desires. We spent most of our times doing wordly things that we enjoyed. (Online gaming, scrolling in social medias, watching dramas, movies, series, and etc.) We wasted our time doing the things that we enjoyed having no benefits for us at all.

In our Generation, these are the kinds of gods we have. We worship them. Maybe we have done all of these nung una palang at wala pang pandemic na nangyayare saatin.

Worshipping our jobs, money, our school, career over God's been TOP PRIORITY. Then covid-19 came in our world and taken away all these gods we have in our lives.

We may feel comfort, loved, enjoyed in all these things we do but there is NO RELATIONSHIP it was always a religion to us. (Kind of worshipping things that we never noticed)

We are like people in Athens their desire was to worship all these gods. They were very religious as Paul seen it.

Acts 17:24 NLT "He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heavens and earth, he doesn't live in man-made temples."

Paul says the Lord of heaven and earth doesn't live in this world. So we cannot fabricate God.

Yes we have our church, to gather and have fellowship, to worship God not to worship the church.

Things doesn't have the feelings, they don't love you. And there's no loving back.

The way that God's desire is for us to LOVE.

- We worship Him because we love him.

- We serve Him because we love him.

- We obey Him because we love him.

We don't serve God to make God happy. God LOVED us while we were sinners. God's love is from eternity to eternity. Yet we have a relationship with Him.

Application

- May all the things we do is came from LOVE.

- Pursue our relationship with the Lord over everything.

- Evaluate where we spent most of our time.
