There are a lot of things that should be taken care of when designing a website, a blog, a forum, or even an eCommerce site. If you are a new blogger, or someone who has just started building a website, here are some tips to consider while designing a website. In this post, we talk about four important things, viz.

  • The Home Page

  • Pagination/Scrolling Option

  • User Experience

  • User Interface

Different Types of Home Page Content: Which One is Your Best?

A website can have three different kinds of home page content.

Landing Page: The landing page is the overlaying page on your website. The landing page displays announcements, subscription notices, information about your business or product, etc. You will reach the main website only when you close the landing page, or perform the action (subscribing, for example)

Static Page: When a website has a Static Page home content, it will display the content that the website owner has decided to display. The content on the static page does not change unless the owner decides to change. Company websites normally have static page

Recent Post: Most of the blogs have this feature. They will display the recently displayed posts on the home page.

I like displaying Recent Posts on my home page.

Is Infinite Scrolling Design Good For Your Website?

What is Infinite Scrolling Design?

Infinite Scrolling Design is a design that creates an endless feed of content on a website. There is no end to the page, and every time a visitor reaches seemingly the end of the page, new content will automatically load. There are no paginations. The best examples of infinite scrolling designs are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Buzzfeed, etc.

Is Infinite Scrolling Design Good for Your Website?

Since Infinite Scrolling Design allows your visitor to check more content without having to click Read More or Page 2 option, it can improve engagement on your website. Infinite Scrolling Design allows users to stay on your site for longer.

Infinite Scrolling Design can be good for a blog-like website, question and answer site, even discussion board. However, for eCommerce site, Infinite Scrolling Design may not be a good design as it might be difficult to find a proper product.

How to Create Infinite Scrolling Design on Your Website?

Infinite Scrolling Design is a design that allows the visitor to access more content without clicking the pagination option. Since Infinite Scrolling Design increases traffic retention, it is a good design for a content site.

If you want to create Infinite Scrolling Design, here are a few methods.

Themes with built-in Infinite Scrolling feature

There are a lot of themes with built-in Infinite Scrolling features. Search for Infinite Scrolling theme and use the appropriate theme. I recommend Minimal Dark.

Infinite Scrolling Plugin

On Wordpress repository, you can find a lot of plugins that add Infinite Scrolling feature. Jetpack is one such plugin. You can also use Ajax Load More plugin to add Infinite Scrolling functionality on your website.

Manually add code

This option is for advanced users who know how to code and add codes on the websites. If you don’t know coding, you can find readymade codes that you can add to your site.

Importance of UX and UI

What are UX and UI?

UX refers to User experience and UI refers to User Interface.

User Experience refers to the experience of a visitor on your website. This experience can be good, bad, or ugly.

User Interface refers to the overall look of your website as seen by the visitors. User Interface can be clean or cluttered.

Why User Experience and User Interface are Important for Your Website?

User Experience and User Interface both are very important on your site. Bad User Interface and User Experience might be caused by too many ads, cluttered design, slow loading of the site, low-value content, thin content (not much content), etc.

What happens if your site has a bad User Experience and a Bad User Interface

When visitors on your site find your site has a bad User Interface they will have a bad User Experience. This might lead to...

Low traffic or no traffic

High bounce rate

Low revenue or no revenue

Low ranking on search engines, etc.

How User Experience and User Interface affect SEO on Your Website?

User Experience and User Interface are part of technical SEO. Technical SEO refers to the tactics related to technical work such as installing SSL, improving site loading speed, using clean design, using eye-catching graphics, etc. All of these tactics will improve User Experience and User Interface.
