There are different ways to sell on the internet, some of the common methods are:

Selling from your own website, blog, or online store

Selling from ecommerce marketplaces

Selling from social media

If you want to sell from your own website, you will have to spend money to build a website. You will also have to spend money on SEO and digital marketing. You need to work really hard to build traffic.

If you want to sell from ecommerce markets, you have a lot of options such as ebay, etsy, amazon, zazzle, etc. Some of these platforms require you to spend money to list products, and some are completely free. You are also required to pay sales commission or withdrawal fees.

Selling from social media is completely free because you don't have to spend money to create a shop on social sites or spend money to list products, but you might have to spend money on ads.

Here we are talking about Etsy.

What is the Best Business Strategy on Etsy

Etsy is a popular platform to start an online business, you can sell physical products (self-created products as well as print-on-demand products). You can also sell digital products. However, what is the best business strategy to build a profitable business on Etsy?

No matter what kind of product you sell, you will have to pay to list your product for sale. When your product is sold, you will also have to pay transaction fees as well as payment processing fees. When you are selling physical products, you will also have to spend money on packaging and shipping. Therefore, selling on Etsy comes with a lot of costs.

The best business strategy for Etsy is selling digital products. You will of course have to pay to list products and also pay transaction fees and payment processing fees, however, you do not have to spend money on packaging and shipping. You can also sell the same products again and again.

Is it Profitable to Sell Physical Items on Etsy?

You can sell physical products on Etsy if it is handcrafted or vintage (the product needs to be at least 20 years old).

You need to pay 20 cents for product listing,   6.5 percent transaction fees, and 3 percent plus 25 cents payment processing fee after the product is sold. You might also have to run ads to generate sales. Therefore, when you are trying to sell products on Etsy you will have to think about all the charges and expenses. If you sold a product for $10, you will be paying 65 cents as transaction fees, 55 cents as payment processing fees, and 20 cents as listing fees, so, a $10 sale will get you $8.60. You will also have to deduct your expenses like ad cost, product manufacturing cost, and shipping cost (if you offered to ship). If you deduct your entire expenses, a $10 sale might not even give you a $2 net profit. You will have to set a higher selling price to earn better profit.

Make Money Using Etsy and Facebook Marketplace

Go to Etsy, and find high selling product.

Go to Facebok Marketplace and list the Etsy product for sale. Add 20-25 profit mark-up on your listing. Use the same title, description while listing the product on Facebook Marketplace.

When the product is ordered on Facebook Marketplace, go to Etsy and order the product. Use the shipping details of the buyer. The Etsy seller will directly ship to the buyer’s location and you make money for driving sales through Facebook Marketplace.

You will have to remember a couple of things, for example, you need to choose a product that has free shipping because it is easier to sell product that comes with free shipping.

Also, save the Etsy product link on a excel sheet as that you can easily track the product when it gets ordered on Facebook.

If you are having difficulties in generating sales on Facebook marketplaces, try boosting the product. Add your marketing expenses on the selling price.
