Building a Brand on Social Media

Social media is the best platform to build your brand because in order to build a brand you need to be recognizable amongst your customers and potential customers. Billions of people use social media sites, therefore, you can easily find your customers and potential customers.

Consistent branding on social media is very important because it has been reported that consistent presentation by a brand increases revenue by 33 percent. Apart from revenue, branding is also about how you relate to your customers, or how your customers actually perceive your business.

Branding is a collection of your business values, goals and solutions wrapped up into your name, logo, product, and services.

What does branding on social media actually look like? Where do you start, how do you build a brand on social media?

The answer is rather simple.

You build an audience of the target customer.

You create content that provides value to your target customers.

You sell the dream and lifestyle, and not the product.

How to Sell on Social Media

Selling on social media is rather easy as you have an option to reach millions of customers and you can sell without spending money on store management.

In order to sell on social media, you will have to think beyond your followers, think about people who are your customers but not followers. You will have to use the right hashtags to attract your target customers not just followers.

Your account must offer value. If there is no value, they will not follow you.

Publish niche-focused content that provides value not only to your followers but also to visitors.

Spark curiosity so that conversation begins.

Put your random lifestyle and personal stuff in your story, and publish evergreen content on your feed.

Build a community of people who are willing to be added to your private group, webinar, or email list.

Don’t sell, try to serve. You can sell on social media only when you start serving.

Common Mistakes Made on Social Media by Small Business Owners

When businesses make mistakes on social media, they don’t generate traffic, leads, and sales. When there is no traffic, leads, and sales from your social media activity, the whole point of social media marketing becomes a futile attempt.

What do you think are the mistakes made by small business owners?

One of the biggest mistakes is related to content visibility. They post on social media but the content never reaches potential customers. This can be rectified by building niche based audience, using the appropriate hashtags, and targeting your content to the proper demography

Another mistake is related to content quality. A lot of business owners are confused about what kind of content to share. They publish selfish content. Selfish content means content about “me.”If you talk only about yourself, like what you have done, what you are offering, what your product and services can do, etc. people will never check your content. Remove “I” from your marketing and you will see what a big difference it makes.

How to Promote on Social Media For Better Conversion

Don’t start promoting yourself, don’t talk about yourself, don’t try to sell, instead talk to people, try to understand what they care about, try to serve your audience, and try to offer value that will help them.

You need to create content that is share-worthy. You have 1000 followers, in order to put your content to 2000 people, you need to publish content that is share-worthy. Share worthy content is the content that people find useful and believe will also be useful to others (that’s why they share).

Offer value to your audience. Think about what problem your content can solve, what issues your content can address, and how people are going to benefit by using your product and service. If you offer value, your conversion rate will be high. You can build value by doing some research on your audience, what they are searching for online, and what problems they face in daily life.

Social Media Advertising: Targeting the Real Customer

In order to sell your products, you need to market the product to the right people. If you are trying to sell games to non-gamers, you cannot sell no matter how much money you spend on ads. You also need to spend a lot of money on advertising. Just because social media allows you to promote for free does not mean you can also sell a lot of stuff for free. You need to run ads.

Social Media Automation

Hootsuite is a social media automation tool. Even the free version has a lot of use cases as you can only use 3 different social sites. Well, if you do not want to use a third-party social media management tool most of the social sites have a post-scheduling option (I use this option on Twitter and Facebook), which you can try.
