Your blog needs traffic to become successful. If you do not have traffic, you do not generate revenue, and when there is no revenue, your blog will be short-lived. Therefore, building traffic is a must for your blog sustainability.

Digital marketing can be done for free as well as by spending money. Digital marketing, mainly social media marketing is a free method. However, this method will work only when you have managed to build followers on social media platforms. You will have to spend money to build followers. You can also build traffic through advertising.

SEO is the best way to build traffic, however, it is not possible to build traffic through SEO for a lot of bloggers because they do not have the proper skills and do not have money to hire experts. Therefore, the only option left for them to build traffic through Social Media Marketing

If you want to market on social media platforms successfully you need to do two things, one, build a huge following, and two, run ads. When you have built followers on your social media pages, you can promote your products to your followers and generate sales and traffic. This method is completely free, however, it takes a long time to build followers on social media, if you have funds, you can advertise your posts and pages to build followers. The second method requires you to spend money. Interestingly, ads on social media cost less than advertising on other platforms, google ad words for example or search engines for that matter. My favorite method of sharing on social media is by posting on the pages dedicated to my website. I have facebook and twitter page for my website, and I regularly share on these pages. However, you can benefit from this method only when you have a huge following and only when you have built followers through genuine methods (for example not by buying followers or using social exchange services)

There are a lot of ways to do social media marketing for a blog, but I am going to share what has worked best for me.

Create social media page/account for your blog: Even though you can promote your blog through your personal account, creating social media pages/account with your blog name is the best way to get started. Let’s say your blog is called Health Tips. You need a Facebook page called Health Tips, Twitter and Instagram accounts for Health Tips. You need to provide the most accurate information regarding your blog, including web address. Use your blog logo as the profile picture.

Build Audience: You won’t benefit from social media marketing if you do not have followers. More followers you have better your reach is. One of the easiest ways to build followers is through advertising. Run ads for your blog post (the content that has the chances of going viral). You will benefit in two ways, one you get link clicks, and hence traffic, and two, you will also get followers.

Share content: You need to share your blog posts regularly. However, you need to know the difference between active sharing and spamming. Do not share in a way that people think you are spamming and start unfollowing you. Even though you are basically promoting your blog, try to share different kinds of content, including meme, video, infographics, etc. in order to improve user engagement.

Use Automation: Social media promotion can be quite time-consuming. You will have to regularly visit your social pages, create content for your social media as well as share your content. Social media promotion is a must for a blog, however, it also takes a lot of time. The best way to solve this issue is by using automation. Use post scheduling option to schedule your posts. You can also try using tools like Hootsuite. By using Hootsuite, you will not only be able to schedule posts but even publish the same content across multiple social platforms.
