The best platform to make money is always your blog. When you have a blog, you can make money through multiple methods. You can even sell freelancing services as well as ebooks and digital courses on writing and other skills. However, for a lot of people, making money from blogs is really difficult because blogging requires multiple skills and it is not possible to be an expert on multiple skills.

Is It Possible to Become Successful Blogger

With the popularity of video content and social media monetization option, blogging for money is becoming less popular. So, if you want to try blogging, you need to find out whether it is possible to become successful blogger or not? Frankly speaking, monetizing your blog with just ads and affiliate products might no longer work, running a shop in your blog might also not work. If you want to become successful with your blog, you need to think outside the box. Something like providing resources for learning, for instance you can provide marketing lessons, business lessons, etc. or proving products that can help people make money or build skills.

If you start blogging in 2023, you might not be able to make money from your blog before 2024. Well, you might earn a dollar or two from your blog but in order to make a substantial amount of money from a blog, it takes a long time. If you are using an ad network like AdSense, you need to earn $100 before you can withdraw, and making $100 from Adsense takes a long time. However, if you are patient enough to work for a long time, you might be able to make good money from your blog. Blogging is a passive income however, you do not start earning from your blog instantly, and it takes a long time. Blogging requires multiple skills, you need to be a good writer, SEO expert, and digital marketing expert to make money from your blog. The key to earning from a blog is traffic and generating traffic is the most difficult.

Writing is an essential skill when it comes to blogging. However, in order to write better, you need better language skills. The blogging language you choose should be something that you have knowledge of and expertise in. If you are blogging in English, that's fine but if you want to blog in another language, you will have to see if the chosen language is accepted by the advertisers like Adsense. You need website building skills. While you are not expected to become a programmer, the basic skills with wordpress are very essential in order to blog. You should not only have skills to create wordpress website but also have skills to manage and run a website. In order to become successful with blogging, you need to have traffic, in order to build traffic, you need SEO and digital marketing skills. if you do not have these skills, learn these skills.

Reasons Why Free Hosted Blogging is Not Good

If you want to blog, you need to start blogging on a self-hosted blog. Self-hosted blog means a blog you create by registering a domain, buying a hosting plan and use a content management system to create a blog (you can also code your blog from scratch, if you have skills).

Self-hosted blog establishes your authority: One of the major benefits of having a self-hosted blog is it establishes your authority on the subject.  People do not take free hosted blogs seriously. However, they will trust a self-hosted blog.

You can make money from self-hosted blog: It is quite impossible to make money from free hosted blog, a lot of ad networks do not even accept free blogs. For example, you can create free blogs with wordpress, wix, etc. However, adsense will not accept these sites for monetization.

You own your self-hosted blog: When you have a free hosted blog, you do not have full control, your blog can be shut down by the platform any time. However, when you have a self hosted blog, you have full ownership, including website files and content you have published.

Blogging on Self Hosted Website Vs. Blogging on Third Party Site?

As a blogger, you can earn from your own website or a third-party blogging site. But between these two, which do you think will be easier to manage and make money?

You can blog on third-party websites like Medium, Vocal, HubPages, Read Cash, Publish0x, Hive, etc and make money as a blogger. However, having your own website serves a better purpose to make money as a blogger. Even though earning from third-party blogging platforms is easier compared to your own blog, you need a website if you truly want to become a blogger.

Building traffic on a third-party blogging site is easy because there are a lot of writers on the site and you can follow them read their content, and leave comments on their content. In most cases, you will be reciprocated, which means you will have a follower, a reader, and a commentator.

Is It Easy To Generate Revenue

Trust me you won't earn even a penny until 4 months even when you consistently publish blog posts every week and promote your blog posts on social media. Earning from a blog is very difficult. You need a substantial amount of traffic, having traffic is not enough, and your traffic also needs to convert. In other words, if you are receiving 1000 visitors on your site, some of your visitors also need to check your ads, your visitors need to click on ads (for PPC ads) to buy products ( (for CPA ads). If you are using CPM ads, you may not need any conversion but depending on your traffic location you will earn $2-$6 per 1000 impressions. You should never focus on numbers, instead, you should focus on publishing search-friendly content so that your content can rank on search engines and you can receive organic traffic. You can als use social media for traffic.

When I started blogging, my initial plan was to make $100 per month. In order to make that money, I should be making $3.33 every day. However, when I started blogging only then did I understand how hard it is to make money through blogging. For a lot of people blogging is all about writing, however, blogging is more than writing. In order to make $1 per day, you might need 2-3K daily traffic through reputed sources. Currently, I make more than what I initially planned, however, my target is to make $1000 per month from my blog, in order to do that I need to make at least $30 per month. Actually, I manage to make that amount not only through my blog but through a lot of things. I do a variety of things such as blogging, vlogging, product sales, marketing, and so on. I work 10 hours per day on average.

Blog Vs. Online Store: Which is Financially Rewarding?

Would you earn more by creating a blog or an online store? Let’s find out.

You do not have to spend a lot of money to start a blog. However, for an online store, you need better hosting and ecommerce CMS or ecommerce platform, which can add up your cost.

For an online store, you will also need to spend money on products if you plan to sell from your own inventory.

When blogs can be easily monetized with ad networks or affiliate ads, you need to sell products in order to generate revenue on your online store.

Running cot for your online store can be high because you will be paying for subscriptions for ecommerce platforms and add-ons.

The marketing cost for an online store tends to be higher compared to a blog. You will have to run paid ads for your online store, however, for a blog that is almost unnecessary. Since you do not have to spend a lot of money on blog maintenance, you will not be under pressure to make money. However, it costs a lot of money to run your online store and you are under pressure to generate sales otherwise you end up spending money from your pockets.

So, what can you do?

A better approach is to create a blog and add a shop page to create a dropship store or a print-on-demand store.

Blogs Vs. Forums: Which is Financially Rewarding

I have a blog that earns me some money. I also created a forum, monetized it, and tried to earn from the forum. I failed to do so, therefore, I sold the forum.

In this post, I will try to analyze whether a blog is financially rewarding or a forum based on my experience and observation.

You need a domain and hosting for a blog, and a forum also needs a domain and hosting, so the starting cost is the same.

You can use open-source CMS for your blog as well as forum, so there is no extra cost attached to your blog or a forum.

If you are a writer, you can create your own blog posts. Even if you are not a writer, you can easily hire writers to write on your blog.

Forums need members, and these members need regular posters. Just like on a blog, you cannot do it on your own. You need members. Unlike on your blog, where you can hire someone to make 30 posts and you can start monetizing your site, forums need a lot of members to create posts. It is quite difficult to bring members on forums. You might have to pay to post. This can cost you a lot of money.

On the positive side, it is easy to build traffic on forums because when you have members regularly posting on your forum, you can bring regular traffic. When you have traffic, you can start earning. Building traffic and revenue on a blog is very challenging.

Making Money From Blogs: Conclusion

Blogging pays, however, before you can make money from your blog, you will have to work hard on building traffic, Traffic can be basically generated through two methods, one, by ranking your website no search engines, which is possible only through SEO, and two, by marketing your blog. You can market your blog through different methods, and some of these methods are free, while other costs money. The free marketing method works only when you have built a huge audience. For example, promoting on social media is free, however, you can generate traffic from social media only when you have huge followers. Interestingly, you can build huge followers only when you spend money to advertise your page. So, basically, the free method is also not free in the true sense. You might not be able to make money even when you have 1000 views because earning depends on ad engagement.

Some topics bring a lot of traffic but these topics do not get high CPM, whereas some topics have high CPM but do not get a substantial amount of traffic. I think the best way to make money through blogging is to publish content on topics that get a moderate amount of traffic and a moderate CPM rate. By taking a middle path, you will receive traffic as well as earn from your blog. However, this will happen only in two conditions, one, your blog posts appear on the searches, and two your visitors engage with your ads. Your blog posts will appear on searches only when you have optimized your content and the blog for search engines. You will get engagement on your ads only when you have published keyword-rich content that allows contextual advertisers to display relevant ads on your site. There will be ad engagement only when related ads are displayed.

Blogging is not a lucrative way to make money online. if you want to make money online try something else bit never attempt blogging. Try blogging only when you are passionate about writing and want to build readers for your written work. Well, you can of course earn from your blog, however, it is not easy to make money through blogging. If money is your primary concern, try vlogging, you can do vlogging without spending a dime (for a blog you need to pay for a domain and hosting). You can even try selling online through ecommerce marketplaces, or try freelancing. There are better ways to make money other than blogging. In order to become successful through blogging, you need to be skilled in multiple areas such as writing, SEO, website designing, digital marketing, etc. You need to be very patient with blogging in order to make money, something you will have to work for a year without earning a penny.
