If education means a college degree, you absolutely don't require a college degree to start an online or even offline business. However, you still need knowledge, skills, and expertise to start a business and build a business. You need to learn in order to build skills and knowledge. Learning does not always mean college education, you can earn informally through short-term courses, through informal training, or even in the real world. I spent thousands of dollars learning to program but I know a boy who learned programming on his mobile device just by watching youtube videos. He is so good at programming that he has earned thousands of dollars just from bug bounty. The boy did not have to go to college to learn programming just like me, but he still had to learn to code. The same rule applies to the business as well. You need knowledge and skill.

Let's say you want to blog, you don't need to be Harvard graduate but you must realize blogging demands various skills, including writing, SEO, digital marketing, and web design. Start by learning how to write blog posts. If you do not have language and writing skills, explore online learning platforms like Udemy, Skillshare, Masterclass etc. You should not only have writing skills but also SEO and digital marketing skills. You can either use paid  platforms like Udemy and Skillshare or free platforms like Youtube or even Alison. You also need to enroll in web design programs to enhance your blogging skills.  If you do not want to learn web designing, you should at least wordpress. These skills will help you create good blog and bring traffic and revenue.

How to Start Learning Skills to Get Better Jobs

Having skills and knowledge is super important for getting good-paying jobs. The more skills you have, the better jobs you can land. For example, if you're good at writing, you can work as a writer. But if you can do SEO writing or technical writing, you'll earn even more. You might make money as an article writer, but you'll make more if you can write white papers, ad copies or project proposals. You can make money with niche writing but you can expect more money when you know how to write codes or how to do animation.

These days it is common to hear from people that they wasted their time in college. However, you should never underestimate the value of education. Education helps you build up your skills and knowledge. But what if you missed out on that chance?

Well, learning is an ongoing process and if you try you can still keep learning! You can join online colleges or universities and keep studying. But if you don't have much time for a full-on university course, you can take short-term skill-based courses on different online learning platforms. The courses available on learning websites are short term courses (4-6 weeks) and tailored to teach you specific skills. For instance, if you want to learn marketing in the university, you will have to spend 2 years. But of you want to learn specific marketing skill, you can enrol in a short course on learning platform. After you finish the course, you can use those skills to make money. For example, you could learn Facebook marketing in 6 weeks. Then, on the 7th week, you could start working as a marketer using what you've learned.

There are multiple platforms to build skills and knowledge through short term courses. You can attend these courses on learning platforms like Udemy, Skillshare, Alison, etc. You can also use tech giants like Google and Microsoft for learning various skills.Google and Microsoft have dedicated platforms for online learning. There are also SEO and marketing companies that offer free courses on various subjects. For instance you can access courses on Hubspot, Semrush, etc.  Then there is youtube, a video platform where you can access all sorts of informative and educational content.

In the digital age, gaining knowledge and building skills does not have to be expensive. There is no need to spend money to buy courses. You can use free learning programs anymore. If you are not satisfied with free courses on Google and Microsoft and want to learn better, you can try Alison, a popular learning platform, like Udemy, where you can sign up for free and enrol for various kinds short courses. Learning is completely free, but if you want, you can pay for a certificate once you finish a course. For freelancers, getting certified might not be needed because having skills is usually more important than having certificates to show.

Diversify Your Hustle to Earn Big

Do you know what is the best way to earn well through your online work? Well, diversifying your hustles is the ideal way to earn big.  In a traditional job, a single skill can earn you your full time income, for instance, if you are accountant, you can get well paying job and this job can pay your bills. However, you cannot use this single skill to earn additional income. However, in the virtual work success often comes from diversifying your skills and income streams. One skill, for example, graphic designing can open multiple doors of opportunities, you can work as a graphic designer on freelancing sites, you can create graphics and sell, you can start merch business, you can start tutorial classes, etc. Therefore, if you are an online worker, don't limit yourself! Explore different ways to leverage your skills. That’s how you can build multiple income streams for a more stable online earning.

One of the on demand skills for 2024 is video editing. There is a demand for video editor and video creator in the advertising industry, social media content creation, marketing, etc. If  you have video making and editing skills? You're in luck! You can monetize your skills in multiple areas. Offer your services on freelance platforms, create online courses on video editing and video making, teach on YouTube, or even make your own monetized video content for multiple social media platforms. You can even sell video footage for others to use. The possibilities are endless! Of you have this skill you can earn through multiple methods. You need to build skills in the areas that allow you to work on multiple fields

Conclusion

I see a lot of people taking about low paying earning platforms like PTP, Microjob sites, GPT sites, etc. I also see a lot of people online admitting that they do not have enough skills to access high paying jobs through freelancing platforms.

If you find yourself in this shoe, you need to understand one thing that is most successful online earners started with basic skills and gradually levelled up. Whether you're a total beginner or have a few tricks up your sleeve, there's always room to learn and grow. Focus on honing your skills, be it writing, design, video making, animation, coding, programming, or marketing, and watch the opportunities you get. Knowledge and money both are very important and you cannot choose one over the other. If you have the knowledge, you can do things to make money, if you have money, you can build your knowledge and expertise. You need money to learn, without learning you cannot become knowledgeable. Some people say you don't need money to learn as you can learn from your environment. However, things you learn from the environment might not help you grow professionally. You can learn interpersonal communication skills or money management skills from your environment but do these skills actually make you money? In order to make money, you will need professional skills and you need money to build skills. Some say you can also learn for free online. However, in order to learn online, you need the internet and a device (smartphone or a computer), these things cost money.
