I try to be pro-change in life and in tech, but honestly I'm not a fan of the latest Noise update and the phasing out of free tips. I feel like we were on a path of achieving balance and weeding out spammers, but now we've taken a different direction and the balance is thrown off again. Why do I feel this way? Because it seems this change will benefit those with the highest number of subscribers. Which in my mind means that people will do whatever they need to, to increase their subscriber count and get the most likes. Expect more pandering, more selfies, more facebook/insta type posts. So how is Noise now different from the other social media platforms? Who doesn't benefit? New noise users. I feel like this change is going to make this platform harder to grow. What does this mean for someone like me who prefers not to post pictures? Am I going to chase "likes" now, or am I going to end up leaving Noise for the same reasons I left traditional social media... #NoiseFeatures

I don't like it because IMHO it will discourage controversial posts. If we stay with the CHIP system, then if I put up a post someone dislikes, they just ignore it. But now, if they dislike it enough, they may label me a Bad or Horrible user. Because of the potential for folks with strong opinions being offended, certain topics will now be avoided. But that's okay ...... I like puppies, and I have plenty of puppy pics and happy words about them to post!
OldBastard you've put into words something that's been at the back of my mind. The system is gearing up to encourage people to be more likeable and less genuine. I already avoid controversial topics, I keep my opinions about religion or politics to myself, and I haven't disclosed my gender. If I want to be part of Noise I have to make sure my account stays in the green... I fully understand the urgent need to weed out spammers, and admin can't do it alone so the community has been given more power to help. But it comes at a cost. I will support your puppy pics. ;)
