Today,I will be writing about a great god of the Greek religion which is zeus

Who is Zeus?

Zeus is the sky and thunder god of the Greek gods and goddesses. He rules over all gods on mount Olympus .He is popularly known as the king of gods

Birth mythology

Zeus was given birth to by Cronus(father) and Rhea.Cronus gave birth to many children by Rhea(mother):their names are;

Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon.

When Zeus was about to be born, Rhea sought Gaia ( the ancestral mother of Uranus)to formulate a plan to save him, so that Cronus would get his retribution for his acts against Uranus and his own children. Rhea gave birth to Zeus in Crete, handing Cronus a rock wrapped in swaddling clothes, which he promptly swallowed.

The reason why Rhea did that is because Cronus received a revelation that he will be dethroned by his son. Since then Cronus has been killing his children by swallowing them,and all the children given birth by Rhea was swallowed by him. That was how Zeus escaped death from being swallowed by his father Cronus.

Life history of Zeus

Zeus grew up and got married to Hera and gave birth to three children which are; Ares, Hebe, and Hephaestus. He also had many children like Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Persephone, Dionysus, Perseus, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Minos, and the Muses. These children are all a result of promiscuous activities with other women.

These children later turned to other gods and goddesses that are now myths. Zeus became the chief of all Greek gods. All gods acknowledged him as their father to guide them and maintain order between gods.

Let us talk about how he became the chief of all gods. How could Zeus be the chief of all gods when his father is still alive, don't forget that cronus didn't know that one of his children survived.

Zeus later injured his father by poisoning him and that led to the vomiting of his brothers and sisters that has been swallowed,then he saved his father's brothers that has been imprisoned in a dungeon in Tartarus.That was when he received thunder bolt and thunder from his father's brother cyclopes that he saved as a gift of thanks, this thunder and thunderbolt has been hidden by Gaia and was now given to zeus.

An earthshaking battle occured between Cronus and Zeus. cronus collaborated with the titans and fought against Zeus,his brothers and sisters,and Cronus brothers that was rescued by Zeus which the war ended with the death of cronus and the titans were banished to Tartarus. That was how Zeus became the king of all gods.

During Zeus regime,his authority was challenged by other gods like Gaia,Hera,poisedon,Athena,Typhon,Porphyrion, but he overcomes all this challenge and became the victor.

As we see Zeus passed through all hardships, challenges,trials to become the king of gods. He endured and cleared a lot of obstacles to lead others

Zeus who is known as the king of gods, god of the sky,god of lightning,god of thunder,god of law, god of order and god of justice has a lot of symbol like bull,oak,eagle ,thunder bolt.

In conclusion: did you know that the Statue of Zeus was regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
