Just-going-over blackberries

The hedgerows are stuffed at the moment and this year it seems as though bows are particularly laden with hawthorn berries, rose hips, sloes and just-going-over blackberries (or Brambles!)....

When bushes are stocked so plentifully like this it could herald a hard winter, according to old wives tales. Our crabapples struggled this year (due to a late frost) but I managed to find a healthy crop at a friend’s farm to make crabapple gin and jelly...
