Some years back, a female Commandant was posted to my state and she had to address the officers and men. Standing before us, she took a good look at us and the first thing she said was "You are free to form an opinion about me. You may have heard some certain things before I came. Some may be good, some bad but whatever you heard, I will like you to do one thing, form your own opinion but remember, it doesn't make it the truth". These words stuck with me.
Humans are very opinionated and judgemental. They will always have something to say about you. A popular musician in my country says, "If they don't talk about you then you are a nobody". Think about those who are dead? They don't really make a topic of discourse. This means that so long as you are alive, someone somewhere will always have something to say about you and most times it is more negative than positive.
It's human nature. This is why you should not be moved by what people say about you. If you are constantly worried about what someone has to say about you then you aren't living, you are merely existing. You will never find your comfort and peace of mind.
There will be people that just don't like you. They don't like who you are, what you are doing or what you believe in but does it matter? Do it anyway.
There will also be people who will always love you and will be your biggest cheerleaders in life. They will always have your back and will never let you down.
There will also be people that you aren't sure where they belong to. You think they are your greatest cheerleader but behind you, they are full of envy and jealousy and the more you succeed the more it hurts them. Keep succeeding anyways.
You can't please everyone. You can't give up your right to happiness just because of someone. You can't hide your potential because of some people. Screw them! Do your thing.
Always remember, whatever you will become in life is between you and your God, no man has any right to give an approval. Do it anyways.
