"At that point the LORD said to me, 'You have advanced around this slope nation sufficiently long; presently turn north.'" Deuteronomy 2:2-3
We as a whole have wrecks in our lives. Monetary wrecks. Relationship wrecks. Wellbeing wrecks. Home wrecks. Business wrecks.
Wrecks that leave us feeling stuck. Like we might be abandoned in this spot of change and distress until the end of time.
I'm certain that is the means by which the individuals of Israel felt as they were meandering through the desert. Stuck wrecked forever.
You've likely perused or heard this story found in the book of Exodus. God had phenomenally liberated the Israelites from the abuse and servitude of subjugation in Egypt. However, their reluctance to completely believe Him and their explicit refusal to claim the Promised Land left them in a serious wreck. A 40-year, desert-meandering wreck.
Fortunately, in the book of Deuteronomy, we find their story isn't finished. Change is coming. The offspring of the Israelites, initially delivered from Pharaoh's oppression, are at last going to claim the land God said was theirs from the start.
However, before they push ahead, Moses has everybody delay to think back. He realizes he won't be going with them, so he needs to make certain to solidify in their brains the steadfastness of God along their excursion.
Moses helps them to remember when they'd been stuck revolving around a similar mountain for a really long time. God talked into their meandering and let them realize the time had come to head toward another path.
"At that point the LORD said to me, 'You have advanced around this slope nation sufficiently long; presently turn north'" (Deuteronomy 2:2-3).
It was a significant second for them to recollect. One where they had confronted an extraordinary decision. They could remain stuck, interminably orbiting the standard, worn out spot, or they could pick expectation and head toward another path with the Lord.
They could turn north.
I think this is the ideal opportunity to stop and inquire as to whether there's anyplace we have to "turn north" in our lives. Have we been surrounding similar wrecks for quite a long time, forever? Are there zones we realize we have to change — however feel like it will require a lot of penance?
Here's an inquiry we can pose to ourselves directly amidst our wrecks …
Am I letting this wreck characterize me or refine me?
The response to this inquiry is urgent.
On the off chance that I let a wreck characterize me, I will feel miserable.
On the off chance that I let a wreck refine me, I will be cheerful.
On the off chance that the Israelites had taken a gander at their 40-year history of careless meandering and characterized themselves as insubordinate disappointments, they would have lost all expectation and kept right on orbiting.
But since they grasped the amendment and redirection of the Lord, they had the option to pivot and advance toward His guarantees with trust immovably planted in their souls.
It's the ideal opportunity for our wrecks to quit characterizing us.
It's an ideal opportunity to grasp the refining cycle and turn north.
So how would we start to turn north? We supplant our old musings with engaging facts from God's Word.
