Are you spending too much of your time online? And has anybody told you that you're missing out the life outside because your too way involve in social media platforms, spending time watching, and as if you are creating your world in the internet? And things on the real world are being ignored. You start to skip physical activities, you start to be invisible.
My friend has told me that, I am too focused on reading that when I am being thrown questions, I don't response to answer, or when I do, it was already late and question was nearly forgotten. And when he actually said that to me, I feel the need to write about it.
Funny thing is, when we were young watching magic and crafts -Harry Potter, vampires, avengers, and such. We wish to have super powers or most of us wish to be invisible. And nowadays, because people find more entertainment on the internet we spend more time on the internet rather than spending it on the real world, resulting to losing your visibility thus creating your own world on the internet. And aren't we on that state right now? Like we were there but, really not. Visibly invisible.
Signs that you are losing your visibility.
You are always looking on your gadget.
You spend so much time online and with your gadget, and you always want to stick around it, that you skipped some meals, or having your phone or gadgets without your side you feel anxious. It is as if you are missing out the news online, the trend, you feel like even just a day without looking on your socials you find yourself not updated. And it don't do you good.
You tend to ignore the people around you.
Has somebody asked you a question and you heard the question but you didn't understand it, because you are too attached with your phone. And they still have to get your attention by repeating the question or by patting your shoulder? Uhhhmmn?
You missed out the time.
Oooh wtf its already 11pm! How many times have you lose yourself on time and skipped your meals or missed your time of sleep? You missed your time of coffee because when you wake up, you start browsing the internet rather than preparing your own coffee. Because when you start browsing all the notifications start coming in. Online chats here and there. Notification of youtube from your favorite vlogger, writer or the anime movie you left last night.
You don't want to do anything involving physical activities.
Because you are always with your phone, you missed out a lot. You become more attached to your gadget and you don't even want to go out the house. You hate to even walk around the backyard and watching was more convenient. You also seems to avoid cooking because you rely on the convenience of the food delivery services. You keep on telling on yourself, 'this is the last' and you can't count how many last you have told yourself.
Reminder;
Social medias and online platform maybe beneficial to remain our sanity intact. But do not ignore other available activities outside the internet. Try reading books instead of reading it on your gadgets. Try baking or cooking. Because social media might be fun and enjoyable, but you might missed out the life outside it. What if you are too focused on it, and you missed out the place where you should be?
Conclusion
What covid has brought us in this pandemic, was to be socially active in technologies that we missed out to noticed the changes from the outside. We start to noticed the rain and get our hanged clothes on the outside, when it starts to fall on our roof. Unlike, you saw the clouds getting darker, having the signals to prepare you that it will rain in no time, preventing your clothes from getting wet.
I am never saying that technology don't do us good, I wouldn't agree too, in fact it connects us from those people whom far away from us, but I just want to remind you and me that we are living and our body also needs to do physical activities, and our minds also need to relax and stay out to gadgets screen! Limit the things that you do online or with your gadget, if its not work. Spend quality time with your housemates, workmates, friends, siblings, daughter or parents. Play, think and apply! Keep your visibility!
There are more signs that you are visible yet invisible. You could add down below, if I missed out something!
