Collenchyma

It is another type of simple tissue,which us important to provide support in plants.

They are also living tissues,more elongated, structurally same to parenchyma tissues except that their walls are irregularly thickened.

The thickened area is usually more prominent at edges.

They function as an important supporting tissue in young plants,in stem of non-woody older plants and in leaves.
