Yesterday a seminar was hold on "save the rivers" at the national press club. Nowadays, most of the rivers are losing their navigability. Consequently, our land is turning into a desert. The speakers cited various reasons behind the losing of navigability of the rivers. Ours is an agricultural country.
Here most of the farmers depend on the rivers directly or indirectly for their farming. The speakers said that if we are not able to save our river. Our farming will be hampered severely. They opined that these barrages are the main cause of the losing of navigability of our rivers.
Besides, our rivers are filled with mud and silt because of lack of proper dredging. The speakers emphasize on governments proper step and good-will. They suggested that government should dredge the rivers every year by turns.
The speakers said that a strong commitment from the relevant authorities could save the rivers, life line of the countries economy, livelihood, agriculture, and environment.
Therefore, there is no alternative to protecting rivers, they noted.

You have written a very beautiful article. It was very good. Our country is a riverine country. Each of us has a duty to save the river. If we do not save the rivers of our country, then the country will sink at some point.
