Finally, I had it!
Can you guess what is it? Okay I'll tell you.
It started around mid year of 2019. So this may be outdated but I just want to share an event that happened once in my life. This is not a health advice or whatever you may call it. And I don't have any background in the medical field. This is purely an experience of mine.
I am the type of girl who doesn't care about her period. If it came, then it came, just do what I had to do but when it comes to the do's and don'ts during a period, I just set them all aside. For example, "do not indulge in salty or sugary foods" but instead what I did, I didn't even have to think twice about it and just ate what I can till I can. Pretty unhealthy, I know. Not just that but I think every food that I should not consume during periods.
So, what happened next?
My period didn't came the day or the week I expected it. But yea, I kind of expected it because sometimes it comes the first week of the month or the end of the month like for example my period will come on January 1st then the next month it will come on February 20th and sometimes it will come on March 29th and will end April 4th. That's how my period has been going on for a year, it didn't bother me though 'cause I just got over it after and also because I just don't care, I'm not really worrying about it so I just went with the flow.
That goes on until I missed a period the first time.
What did I do? How did I react?
Well, as usual, it didn't concern me. "Missed a period once, I'll have it next month", that's the kind of thinking I'm having at the time. I don't know what's gotten into why I think like that but maybe because I'm too confident that it's not a big deal or because nothing more serious is happening to me yet or I'm just too easy going. So yea that too went on for months until...
The time that missed period finally got my attention.
So missed a period, didn't bother, missed a period the next month, didn't bother, missed a period again the next month, bothered a bit.
What did I do next?
Well, honestly, this time I really didn't do anything. AGAIN.
Here's a one story that got me take a medication for it.
It was on August of 2020, so the COVID-19 pandemic has already been going on for months.
So what happened was at this time I was on my business on getting a medical certificate that was required in an enrollment application in a university that I plan to go to.
So I wore my mask and face shield, rode up my motorcycle and drove to a doctor's office in our town.
Arrived there and called the doctor.
Went inside with safety measures.
Told the doctor that I need to get a medical certificate.
So the doctor got a paper which was the medical certificate that she just have to sign with her signature saying that I am healthy.
So after she got the paper, she asked me a few things.
What's my name? What's my age? Do I have a cough? A fever? A sore throat?
So I answered those things and lastly she asked me when was my last period. That stopped me a bit and felt a bit afraid 'cause what if I said that my last period was 3 months ago and she don't sign the paper? I'm screwed.
So what did I say?
Of course, I said the truth. You shouldn't lie to a doctor they say.
And so she was like, "Are you pregnant?" I laughed. I said "no, ma'am."
And then she said "oh you're irregular, you take this medicine, tablet... blah blah"
And I was like, "Oh, okay"
I just did what she told me, I have a spare money so I bought the medicine she recommended me and instructed me to take it once a day every after breakfast for 3 months, and you'll get your period back. Yes, 3 months, after 3 months boom my period will be back. Well what can I say she knows best. So I did what she told me, took medication once a day after breakfast for 3 months hoping that I will really get my period back after that.
What about the medical certificate, you ask? Fortunately, she signed my medical certificate saying that I don't have any serious condition.
What I did is just take the medicine for 3 months without heavy exercise and without eating healthy. I literally just took it and continued my usual lifestyle.
Boom!
After 3 months, the doctor really know what she said. I HAD IT!!
I HAD IT! I HAD IT! I HAD IT!
My first period after a total of 6 months without having it. It made me so happy.
So yea, I had it on January 2021.
I will end the story right here.
So all I can say is that, I didn't had a thorough checkup with a doctor, I never knew whether I have PCOS. I never did an ultrasound. What was written above were the only events that happened. So, no judgment, I know I'm not perfect, I'm not a fitness inspired individual but let's see what happened next on my next post.
Some may don't understand what it feels like to miss a period but believe me, it is a great concern for women.
Take care of your health!
