"Forgetting" Poetry
Forgetting is a strange and subtle thing,
A process that erases memories from our minds.
It can be a blessing, a curse, or both combined,
Leaving us with just a blank and empty find.
Sometimes we forget the little things,
The details of a day or a mundane task.
Other times it's the big events,
That we struggle to remember and ask.
But why do we forget? Is it simply a lack,
Of attention or focus on the past?
Or is it a coping mechanism,
To help us move on from things that don't last?
Forgetting can be a form of self-protection,
A way to keep the pain at bay.
But it can also be a loss,
Of precious moments we wish we could stay.
And yet, there are those moments we long to forget,
The ones that haunt us day and night.
The memories that bring us to tears,
The ones we wish we could just delete from sight.
Forgetting is a strange and fickle thing,
A force that can shape our lives in unexpected ways.
It can bring us relief or heartache,
As we navigate the twists and turns of our days.
So as we journey through this life,
We must find a balance between remembering and forgetting.
Hold on to the moments that matter,
And let go of the ones that are fretting.
For, in the end, it's not about what we forget,
But what we choose to remember and hold dear.
For it's those memories that shape us,
And bring us joy throughout the years.
