opyright Transfer Agreement
Upon submission, the corresponding author will be asked to transfer copyright of the published paper to the journal on behalf of all authors. The author will also confirm that the manuscript does not contain any material for which publication would violate a copyright or other personal or proprietary right of any person or entity. If the manuscript is not accepted, the agreement will not take effect. The corresponding author should notify the journal if there are any federal employees included in the author list.
Context Summaries
At revision, authors of Original Reports, Reviews and Special Articles will be required to provide a Context Summary. If accepted, these short, structured summaries will appear with your published manuscript.
This bite-sized content will allow our readers to stay current with developments in oncology. We will also be able to market these context summaries via ASCO’s social media outlets.
Summaries should be under 150 words in the following format:
Key Points
Key objective: A single question that defines your content and statement of how the work is new or different.
Knowledge generated: Two short sentences on your findings.
Relevance: Explain how your findings can be applied in a clinical context.
The summaries should contain different information than what is included in the abstract.
View an example of a Context Summary on page 2 of Cisplatin, Fluorouracil in Bolus Injection, and Leucovorin in First-Line Therapy for Advanced Gastric Cancer as an Alternative to Protocols With Infusional Fluorouracil.
Please contact JCOGO@asco.org with any questions.
Page Proofs
Corresponding authors will receive proofs, and must carefully review them for content and typesetting errors. When proofs are available for downloading, the corresponding author will receive an e-mail notification with a password and Web address from which to download and print PDF proofs (paper copies will not be sent).
The corresponding author is responsible for collecting and submitting all authors' corrections in a single submission. Corresponding authors must return corrections by e-mail, fax, or mail within 48 hours to avoid publication delay.
JCO GO discourages substantive or stylistic changes to proofs. The Editor-in-Chief must approve all major alterations, which may delay publication of the manuscript.
Reprints
An order form showing the cost of reprints accompanies the page proofs, so authors may order reprints prior to publication. Authors may also order reprints after publication, but at a higher cost. JCO GO produces all reprints in color at no additional charge to the authors.
Embargo
See the Embargo Policy.
National Institutes of Health Grantees
For all papers accepted that report research supported by any funds or grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), JCO GO will assume responsibility for depositing the final published version of the manuscript to PubMed Central, as a service to ASCO members and to JCO GO authors. Authors should NOT submit their unedited accepted manuscripts to the PubMed Central archive as instructed by the NIH Public Access Policy (NOT-OD-08-033); instead JCO GO will provide a copy of the published article to NIH to be made available for public access by PubMed Central 12 months after the date of publication. In so doing, JCO GO will fulfill the authors' obligation and meet the deposit requirement of NIH. More information from NIH can be found at Frequently Asked Questions about the NIH Public Access Policy.
Author Continuing Medical Education Credits
Authors can earn 10 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for being the first author of a manuscript published in a MEDLINE-indexed journal. To claim the credits, authors must apply through the American Medical Association (AMA). More information can be found here: AMA Continuing Medical Education
