Beautiful Sunsets & Sunrises From All Over The World

by Nicole

There is nothing quite like capturing that perfect sunset. You’ve been sitting there waiting for the color to become just a little more vivid before you hit the shutter release.  Then finally the moment comes when the sky is full of color as the sun begins to shrink out of sight.

Capturing that exact moment is an art form and while I am yet to master it, I have a lot of fun trying!

Even when I am without my camera I love nothing more than watching the sun set over the horizon.  I have been fortunate to see the sun set in many cities, over mountains, over the oceans and everything in between.  The colors that can be produced from a sunset, or sunrise, can be breathtaking.  Its nature at its best.

My friend Emma from GottaKeepMovin.com feels exactly the same way which is why we have collaborated to bring you our top 20 beautiful sunset & sunrise  images taken from all over the world.

North America

Another beautiful night in Florida. This time we are on the beach in the beautiful area of Naples (Suitcase Stories).

The tiny town of Robert’s Creek in British Columbia, Canada, has a little pier and beach, perfect for watching the sunset  (Gotta Keep Movin’).

Sunsetting at Clearwater Beach with a silhouette of a boat (Suitcase Stories)

This sunset in Seattle bathed the docks and mountains beyond in golden rays (Gotta Keep Movin’).

So we spend a lot of time in Florida! This is another shot at Clearwater Beach during our stay there last year (Suitcase Stories)

Not only do the orange and yellow colors in the sunset here in Seattle make a good picture, but the blue (almost) cloudless sky merges in beautifully as well (Gotta Keep Movin’).

We spent a week at Siesta Keys in Florida and this is what we witnessed most nights while we sat on the beach watching the sun go down (Suitcase Stories).

This is one of my favorite sunsets. It was taken in Venice Beach, California. The colors were amazing, like someone had photoshopped the horizon (Suitcase Stories).

The fields and mountains in Abbotsford, British Columbia turned a bright orange when the sun was setting (Gotta Keep Movin’)

Eastern Europe

These old castle ruins made a perfect frame for the setting sun, just outside of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Gotta Keep Movin’)

This photo was taken out a bus window somewhere between Dubrovnik in Croatia and Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I love the colour and the hay bales in the fields (Gotta Keep Movin’)

I was on a night train to Split in Croatia and just about woke up to see this incredible sunrise over these fields. So I took a photo and promptly went back to sleep! (Gotta Keep Movin’)

Central America

This is the view we have most nights from our house sit in Costa Rica! This is right outside our back door, over looking the forest and valley out to the ocean. Needles to say, we don’t want to leave here! (Suitcase Stories)

Mexico was our friend when it came to good sunset shots. Here is another, this time in Playa del Carmen (Suitcase Stories).

This shot was from the first night we were in Cancun Mexico. Not a bad way to start our month in Riviera Maya (Suitcase Stories).

We stayed at a condo complex while we were in Cancun Mexico. You could see the beach from our back door, it was the perfect location. So we got great shots like this one during our 10 days there (Suitcase Stories).

Asia

In 2010 we celebrated Christmas in Phuket Thailand. This is a shot from our resort on Christmas night (Suitcase Stories).

South America

The sunset in the Atacama Desert in Chile is phenomenal, and our trekking group got to the top of this hill to witness it (Gotta Keep Movin’)

Not only was the view of the sunrise amazing, but the color it turned the hills behind us was gorgeous, and the addition of this rainbow was very welcome (Gotta Keep Movin’)!

We arrived at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia just as the sun was rising and making it through the clouds. The perfect reflection of the sky on the water covering the salt flats is to this day one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen (Gotta Keep Movin’).

Sunsets are just magic, aren’t they? The best I’ve ever seen were in Pensacola, Florida, on the Gulf Coast. The sky was absolutely brilliant! Second would be Ko Lanta, Thailand, an island in the Andaman Sea. We stayed five nights and the sky turned different colors for each one!

Hey again! When do you guys head over there?
My hubby is there right now to do some kite surfing on the east side…staying at Silver Sands! Says it is a bit remote, but a great little spot to learn how to do this crazy sport!
Did you see my post on the government incenting visitors using cash-back offers? Seems crazy as it is such a beautiful place…I wonder why they are struggling with tourism! You should do a post about that!

        Hope you guys are well!
