Malaysia is one of the famous tropical countries in Southern Asia. It consists of thirteen states and three federal territories. Although it is a developing country, there are plenty of reasons why tourists love to come to Malaysia. The multiracial people and their unique cultures plus the diversity of its flora and fauna are among the attractions that never fail to bring flocks of tourists to visit the country.

Throughout the year, there are many religious festivals and cultural celebrations in Malaysia. The Muslims celebrate the end of the fasting month with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Chinese celebrate their New Year with fireworks and the Hindus celebrate the festival of lights, Deepavali. In east Malaysia, the people mark the end of the harvesting season with Pesta Kaamatan in Sabah and Gawai Dayak in Sarawak. These colorful festivals bring joy not only to those who celebrate but also become interesting events for tourists to observe.

Besides the festivals, Malaysia offers a variety of beautiful places as tourist spots. Major attraction will be the serene islands and pristine white-sand beaches especially in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Tourists will have a wonderful time relaxing, diving and snorkeling at Reading, Tioman or Perhentian Island. Any of these islands are a great weekend gateways to escape the hustle and bustle in the city. However, some tourists may want to explore famous landmarks in unique cities like Melaka with its A'Damosa and Stadthuys, Langkawi with its Dataran Lang and Kuala Terengganu with its Crystal Mosque.

Coming to Malaysia one should not miss out trying the scrumptious local food. From breakfast to lunch then dinner, tourists have an endless list of food to choose. Instead of plain today bread and half-boiled eggs, tourists have many options that come from noodles and rice. Those with bold taste buds, 'laksa' and 'nasi lemak' are very recommended as it one of food attraction in Malaysia. For lunch, many restaurants will serve plenty of dishes to complement the white rice or customers can go for complete meals like chicken rice, 'nasi briyani' and 'nasi kerabu'. In the evening, seafood will be good pick where some of the eating outlets are even located right by the sea so tourists can watch the sunset before savouring their meals.

Many tourists would say their best experience in Malaysia is meeting people. Malaysians are known to be friendly and helpful. They will never fail to greet everyone with smile. Majority Malaysian use English as their second language so this makes it easier for tourists to seek information like asking for direction. They also would enjoy teaching tourists a word or two in Malay languages. Malaysia also have many traditional outfit for each races.
