Risk as defined by Webster dictionary
"When one is exposed to a chance of loss or damage"
Or
"When one takes chances in the hope of favorable outcome"
Life itself is all about risk, humans are bound to take risks and a risk-taker is always the strong one(if risks are properly taken).
In every aspect of our lives, we take risks, as defined above. It is either we get a chance of a favorable outcome or we just get a loss in return. But this loss shouldn't let us down as a risk-taker. We should always have rooms for improvement, rooms for innovation, rooms for renovation, and rooms for reconsideration.
Taking a look at the parental life, parents take risks in investing in their children, right from pregnancy mothers are always taking risk of giving birth, they have the option not to give birth to a child but they choose to pass through the hard labor and stress taking the risk of life and death. God bless our mothers.
After giving birth they take the risk of preparing for the unknown future for us, the unforeseen circumstances, but yet they would always choose to make investments and take the risks all to themselves believing and hoping for a favorable outcome.
Looking at their child grow, they involve themselves in risks, higher risk when they have to care for the child they can just predict a future for, a child they just hope for, maybe I call it an investment when they would have to invest in their child just like that of a businessman who would take the risk of profit or loss just a game of chance and probability.
Parents took the risk to educate their children to become someone in life, and also to stand out among others. Children are also at risk in most stages of their life ranging from experiencing violence, unemployment, drug abuse, single-parenthood, teen pregnancy, or mental illness.
As a child coming to life, we take the risk of a future we never knew of, we study, work, learn, seek knowledge, and prepare for the unknown. Sometimes it might come to a loss or favor, we see many after taking the risk of passing through a series of educational stress then they give up at the end of everything. While some would also pass through this same stress and come out colorful, they both took risks. But having different results at the end.
There is a lot to learn from taking risks. And it depends on what risk to be taken, are the risks worthy or not?? What would be my outcome if I take the risk? Is it favorable or not?.
Food and environmental risk
The food we eat involves taking risks; Poor Personal Hygiene when we prepare our meals, the environment we prepare our food also possesses a great risk hazard, washing our hands, thorough cleaning of the utensils and so on could be of priority when we prepare what we take into our mouth.

Food from Unsafe Sources is another major risk we take when it comes to food intake, the water we drink, many of these goods we buy in the market are already exposed to flies thereby causing germ infection into the human system. Improper Cooking Temperatures/Methods, Improper Holding and handling.
Health and safety risk
We risk things too much, there is a saying that goes thus; health is wealth, this means our health is more important than wealth, wealth might just be a factor to having proper health. At times we feel the same symptoms of illness but we would ignore them. This might be a case of low income to handle hospital bills or lack of hospitality in such an area.
Safety is being protected from causes of danger, risk, or injury. Safety precautions have been laid down to follow, but many would always forget to do the needful which may be due to forgetfulness or being in a haste. Prevention is better than cure; It’s better to do things at the right time than waiting for the wrong time to get it corrected.
Conclusion
We take risks in our day-to-day activities, the best of it all is to get proper management to avoid a higher level of risk. Proper management in our finances, health, business, environment, security, and occupation should be a priority.
I think our lives are also'defined by the risks we take and those that we do not. Most of the time, those we take and successfully coming through them triumphantly bring the greatest reward and gratification in my opinion. That perhaps is one reason why mothers still go thru the process of conceiving to giving birth to raring a child :)
