Tourism revenue reached €835.7 million in the first half of 2022, reflecting a significant increase compared to the corresponding period of 2021, according to a report released on Monday by the Cyprus Statistical Service.

In relation to the first half of 2019, a record year for Cypriot tourism, there is a decrease of 16.7 per cent.

According to the report, which used traveller survey data, tourism revenues rose by 115.5 per cent year-on-year in June 2022 and reached €292.7 million.

This is more than double the revenue generated in June 2021, when revenues were limited to €135.8 million.

For the period between January and June 2022, tourism revenues are estimated at €835.7 million compared to €258.8 million in the corresponding period of 2021.

The amount was even more constrained in the same period of 2020, when tourism revenues reached €122 million, with the pandemic severely disrupting the sector in March of that year.

Finally, the statistical service noted that 372,324 tourists travelled to Cyprus in June 2021.
