The year 2021 has shown us that the end of the pandemic is not yet on our world agenda and we humans are trying to adapt to it as much as possible.

In some countries earlier this year, companies began to move to a new, "hybrid" style of working, which means gaining employee trust by creating a healthier and more engaged environment.

What is a hybrid model and how does it work?

As the name suggests, a hybrid model is a mix of online and office work that focuses on doing the "right thing at the right time."

There are already adapted models, for example:

Office Periodically - This model is based on working online as much as possible, although some meetings will still move directly to the office. The model is a good choice to increase social motivation.

Online model - 100% of office workers work online and all types of meetings are done remotely.

Office model - Technically an organization in this model allows employees to work online, although it is acceptable for management to work from an office.

Given the many changes made in the previous year and the level of employee adaptation in the workplace, company leaders need to consider the following factors to make the transition to a hybrid model easier for employees.

Open, transparent, and effective communication from leaders :

Five-day office weeks are a thing of the past. If you want to switch to a hybrid model, you need constant communication with employees.

Hold regular meetings

Weekly meetings are required to set weekly priorities.

Encourage feedback

Be sure to take the time to get feedback. Ask managers to conduct 1: 1 meetings with team members. (Face-to-face, video call, or phone call).

Maintain effective communication 

Create or develop existing communication channels to disseminate company news, changes, training offers.

Remind employees of a variety of essential information and provide an easy connection to management.

Fairness and inclusion for online and office workers

To be successful, it is important to understand what each employee wants in order to make fair decisions in the company. The following points will help you to review the current situation and plan the activities that you will carry out towards the employees.

Invest in learning and development

* According to the company Salesforce, 59% of workers worldwide since the pandemic began had less access to training programs and materials typically funded by employers.

* Conduct surveys to find out how you want your employees to develop. Use this information and allow them to acquire new skills.

* Organize in-house webinars for employees to share their knowledge, fund their various online courses.

Provide access to information, news and resources

* Share all important information via email and ask managers to maximize the involvement of online employees in the ongoing processes in the company.

* Digitize your business processes, as online and offline employees are equally required to have constant access to documents.

Culture

With so much change, the culture of the organization is losing priority. However, maintaining the culture at such times is critically important. The following strategies will help you maintain the culture.

Define

1. Pursue your mission, vision, values, and purpose that enhances your culture.

2. Make sure your external communication matches what you are doing internally.

3. Employees became accustomed to more empathy and flexibility in the face of routine change and tragedies caused by the pandemic. Realize their responsibilities that you may have outside of the service.

4. Encourage managers to regularly inquire about employee health issues and needs.

At a time when employees expect more from employers, it is important for management to find and implement solutions that create a favorable environment for employees.
