Cox's Bazar, the tourism capital of Bangladesh, attracts thousands of local and foreign tourists every day to see the world's longest beach. Today we will try to know about the immense potential of Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar is a unique gift of nature for Bangladesh. There is no comparison to the breathtaking view of Cox's Bazar, which is surrounded by mountains and forests on the coast. Cox's Bazar is the longest natural sandy beach in the world. The 120 km long beach has the largest fishing port and submarine cable landing station in the country.

Beach

Cox's Bazar is one of the most geographically important districts of Bangladesh, it is an area of immense economic potential. According to the ruling of the International Court of Arbitration (PCA) in 2012, Bangladesh gained ownership of 19,046 sq km out of the 1,17,813 sq km sea boundary obtained and 25,602 of the disputed sea boundaries between Bangladesh and India in 2014. Billions of dollars can be earned through the proper use of the maritime economy or blue economy. Most of the GDP of the developed countries of the world comes from the Blue Economy. Unfortunately, Bangladesh has not yet started using the Blue Economy.

Thousands of tourists from different parts of the country come here every day to visit here, numerous foreign tourists are also seen on this beach.

Kalatali, Sugandha Point, Inani Sea Beach Himchhari are the main places of interest here.

If the tourism industry here is made more attractive, maybe Bangladesh will benefit a lot from here.

Marine Drive

The 60 km long Marine Drive is currently the longest in the world. It stretches from Kalatali Sea Beach to Teknaf. The construction work was carried out by the Bangladesh Army under the Bangladesh Roads and Urban Development Department. The Marine Drive, built at a cost of Tk 458 crore, was completed a year ahead of schedule. It was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on May 8, 2016.

St. Martin's Island

St. Martin is a familiar and interesting place for sea lovers. This coral island in the southernmost part of Bangladesh has an area of only 6 square kilometers. Another name for the island is Chhera Island. There are a lot of coconut trees here so it is also called Coconut Ginger. A report shows that there are about one and a half lakh coconut trees in St. Martin with an area of only 6 square kilometers. Humayun Ahmed's famous film "Cinnamon Island" has further enhanced the identity of the island.

Kutubdia Lighthouse

Kutubdia is an island upazila. In 1848, a six-storey lighthouse was built in the South Dhurang Union of Kutubdia, the highest floor of which was lit. In this way, sailors could see the lighthouse from a distance of 19 miles. The lighthouse was completely destroyed in 1954 by the strong current of the conch river. Later, when the lighthouse was rebuilt in 1985, it was submerged by the catastrophic cyclone of 1991.

The ruins of the lighthouse can now be seen at Batigharpara.

Maheshkhali

Maheshkhali is the only hilly island in Bangladesh. This is not an island region by birth. Even a few hundred years ago, Maheshkhali was well connected with Cox's Bazar.

Maheshkhali has a number of scenic and historic areas:

There is a century-old Adinath temple, located at the foot of the Mainak mountain, the temple was built in the seventeenth century.

Matarbari Island and Sonadia Island are located in Maheshkhali.

A coal-fired power plant is being constructed at Matarbari.

Dulhajra Safari Park

The first safari park in Bangladesh is the Dulhajra Safari Park in Cox's Bazar. The safari park located in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar has been set up for the conservation of endangered and rare species of wildlife and for the amusement of the people.

Also other places of interest in the tourist capital

* Burmese market

* Matamuhuri River

* Maheshkhali Jetty

* Radar Station

* Rubber produced in Ramu

* Shah Pari Island in Teknaf

* Lamarpara Buddhist Monastery

* Baraghop Beach

* Ramu Buddhist Temple

* Rakhine Para

* Jaliya Island Economic Zone in Teknaf etc.

If it is possible to build a potential tourism capital in the light of potential, it can become an important lifeline of the national economy.
