The Bangladesh Cricket Board denied Mustafizur Rahman a no-objection certificate to participate in the Indian Premier League due to his obligations with the national side.Cricbuzz has learned that the left-arm pacer was approached by Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, both of whom had one of their pacers withdraw from the squad. While Mumbai Indians replaced Lasith Malinga with James Pattinson, KKR are yet to find a replacement for Harry Gurney.

However, BCB refused the NOC since Bangladesh are set to tour Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series, which is scheduled to begin on October 24, at a time when IPL will be on in UAE.

"Yes, he [Mustafizur] had an offer from the IPL but we did not give him NOC as we have the Sri Lanka tour coming up,'' BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan confirmed to Cricbuzz on Friday (September 4).

Earlier, BCB had allowed Mustafizur to register for the Indian Premier League auction in order to regain his form though the board had also barred the pacer from playing T20 leagues because of injury concerns.

Mustafizur's performance in the T20I series in India turned out to be underwhelming as he picked only a solitary wicket in the three games and leaked runs at 9.51. He has played 24 IPL games and has 24 wickets at an average of 28.54.

BCB is planning a week-long residential camp ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka that is set to begin on September 21, of which Mustafizur is expected to be a part.
