Hi there. So, this is another one of the poetry prompts I've been sharing. The word for today is rambling. I hope it finds you well.
Yesterday, I saw an old man
Sitting in front of an old house,
A walking cain by his side,
Chewing and spitting,
Cursing the world.
I wanted to ask him questions,
If he lived well in his youth,
Where the good memories are
Before life decided to intervene.
But I already knew the answer.
Today, I see a child
Walking quietly on a lonely path.
He seems content in the morning,
Goofy and tired in the afternoon,
Sad in the evening.
I want to ask him questions,
If he likes school,
Where his friends are,
His life before he became so sad.
But I already know the answer.
Tomorrow, what will I see?
A dog or cat perhaps,
Biting it’s owner for no reason.
Maybe a parent or guardian
Strangling a child for talking back.
I would want to ask questions,
About how it all started,
And when it will end.
The whys and what ifs.
But I would know the answer.
