Yes, you read the title right. The fuss about jollof rice is something I've failed to understand. If you're Nigerian, then your life isn't complete without jollof. That's what most people believe anyway, since I don't particularly like the food. I'm a foodie, granted, but jollof doesn't do it for me. This shouldn't come as a surprise though. I've been known to not like what others like.

What's the big deal about it?

I mean, it's just food like countless others. There has been wars about this food. One time, Nigerians and Ghanaians were fighting online about which country makes the best one. It's that serious. And curses were thrown and people called out for it. Just for one food that isn't even that great. Don't convince me otherwise. Not even the so called party jollof LOL.

What difference does it make?

I actually prefer white rice to the popular jollof. You can eat the white one with whatever you like – stew, soup, sauce. You name it. Some will tell you that a plate of white rice is similar to a jar of sugar, all in a bid to discredit it and make jollof superior. Fighting over jollof is a huge disrespect to foods like oha soup. I mean, the nerve.

Maybe I'm missing something, so I'd like to hear your opinion about this.

What makes it so special?

Do tell.
