After a long series of leaks and rumors, today LG has finally officially unveiled its unique dual-screen phone, the LG Wing. In a move to change our traditional view of smart phone designs, LG has provided the new LG Wing phone with an entirely new design in which it tries to tell us that there are more capabilities that can be provided to us by smartphones that have not yet been reached.
Of course, we saw traditional phones that use the same concept used in the LG Wing phone, but in those cases the screen was rotated to reach the actual buttons, but in the case of the LG Wing phone, the long main screen is rotated to reach a small secondary screen, which opens a wide door for us. One of the new capabilities not yet explored in the user experience level.
The LG Wing phone is part of the LG Explorer Project initiative, which aims to breathe new life into smartphone designs by taking risks and providing practical innovations to customers, and the LG Wing is only the beginning. LG has also revealed its partnership with a group of partners including Qualcomm, the Naver search engine, and the streaming platforms Tubi and Ficto to take advantage of its new design.
The new LG Wing phone includes a 6.8-inch main curved P-OLED screen with FullHD + accuracy, a 32-megapixel front camera, as well as a 3.9-inch G-OLED secondary screen with FullHD + accuracy. As you can expect, this phone does not have an IP certification for water and dust resistance, but the screens are equipped with a waterproof layer.
The nice thing about LG Wing is that you can use it as a regular phone if you prefer, but once the main screen switches from portrait to landscape, you'll get a new look and unique use cases of its own. LG is betting heavily on content consumption and the LG Wing is targeting users who like to watch videos on the go.
The rotating design comes with a dual locking mechanism and a hydraulic shock damper. LG claims that the LG Wing is able to withstand 200,000 turns. LG has also managed to make the dimensions of the LG Wing phone close to the dimensions of regular smartphones, and the same applies to its weight of 260 grams.
The phone LG Wing also includes a basic 64-megapixel camera, a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera specifically designed for rotating mode, as well as another wide-angle 13-megapixel camera. There is a Gimbal mode with a virtual joystick on the secondary display.
Regardless of the cameras, the new LG Wing phone also includes the Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB of random memory, 128GB or 256GB internal memory, as well as a 4000mAh battery that supports wireless charging.
Unfortunately, LG did not reveal to us today the price of the LG Wing phone, but confirmed that this phone will arrive in some markets such as the United States, although it did not say when exactly this will happen.
